Stephen McLaren is a legally authorised Humanist celebrant and Marriage Officer based in South Queensferry, near Edinburgh. He creates unique and memorable wedding ceremonies and acts as your legal witness, anywhere in Scotland.

Stephen has helped couples begin their married adventure in all kinds of settings, from an intimate handfasting by a woodland waterfall to a floodlit celebration of love in a football stadium.

The celebrant for the celebration!!

From the minute we enquired about Stephen he mad everything so easy for us. Living in England but getting married in Scotland comes with its stresses but Stephen helped and guided us in making sure our service was everything we wanted it to be! Turns out we got much more than we bargained for because it was everything we wanted and more. Steven has so many great ideas for every couple to make the day more special.
All of our guests commented how perfect the service was and how it was full of warmth, humour and emotion. If you are booking a wedding make sure Stephen is free before you do!
Stephen, again thank you so much I hope our paths cross again!

The Perfect Celebrant

Stevie was everything we could have hoped for. He went above and beyond to make our ceremony special. On what was a scorcher of a day, Stevie made sure everyone was happy and even had water prepared for us both. The little touches with his stories and added humour really made the day so memorable. Throughout the planning, he always led us with his professionalism and personable nature. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to marry us. Thank you so so much! The McLarens

Couldn’t Imagine Our Ceremony Without Stevie!

Words will never be able to express or do justice to how thankful and grateful we are to Stevie for being such a special part of our day. We honestly can’t thank Stevie enough – he was absolutely incredible! From the very beginning, he made both of us feel completely at ease and brought such warmth, humour, and heart to our ceremony. We’ve had so many guests – including the owners of Dundas Castle – tell us how incredible he was. He truly created a ceremony that was personal, meaningful, and unforgettable. It wasn’t just special for us, but for everyone there. If there’s one thing you must do when planning your wedding, it’s book Stevie. You will not regret it and he will give you the kind of ceremony you and your guests will remember forever!

Stevie is a very kind, warm and friendly professional who really listens to your story

Stevie spent time coaching us and listening to our stories so that he could personalise the service for us and he delivered a really warm, heartening ceremony, peppered with amusing (and appropriate) anecdotes which made this really memorable for us. He was very professional, researching some facts that built around our story and added some important details, which we would not have considered. He is a lovely, caring professional. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and would use his services again without hesitation.

We love you Stephen!

Thank you for everything Stephen! You are so personable, easy going and really do take everything in. We were pleasantly surprised how much you picked up from us during chats and incorporated it into our ceremony. You made it fun and meaningful at the same time. We really enjoyed getting to know you and are so glad we chose you to marry us. It felt like a member of the family was marrying us. We can not recommend you highly enough and will miss having you in our lives now that we are married. Thank you for everything ❤️

Amazing service from Stephen

Stephen recently conducted our wedding ceremony and so many of our guests complimented it.
Stephen took the time to get to know us, he asked us questions and then made our story and it was perfect. It was so well described to us and funny he had all our guest joining in from the AYE DOs to the laughter.
We are so grateful to Stephen because he made our ceremony exactly what we wanted, when we didn’t really know what we wanted just by listening to us.
