I’m Sharon, the celebrant behind Simply Human Ceremonies.
I create personal, non-religious wedding ceremonies that are calm, thoughtful and genuinely reflective of the people at the centre of them.
There’s no set format. Your ceremony can include whatever feels meaningful to you — your story, personal vows, readings, music, guest involvement, or things like handfasting or a quaich. Or it can be much simpler.
The point is not to include things for the sake of it. It is to create a ceremony that feels natural, personal and right for you.
For many couples, the ceremony is the part they feel most unsure about. You might know you don’t want something too traditional, formal or scripted, but not quite know what you do want instead.
That is completely normal.
Every ceremony starts with a conversation — understanding your story, your values, your people and how you want the moment to feel.
From there, I write and shape the ceremony from scratch, so it feels clear, natural and genuinely yours.
My ceremonies have been described as having a real warmth throughout, and as feeling personal to the couple at the centre of them.
The process is calm and well organised, with careful attention to detail throughout, so you can feel confident that everything is in safe hands on the day.
The aim is always the same: a ceremony that feels like you.

Meet the team
I’m Sharon, the celebrant behind Simply Human Ceremonies.
I came to celebrancy through my own experience of humanist ceremonies. I had a humanist wedding in 2014, and later a naming ceremony for my daughter in 2019. Both stayed with me because they felt personal, meaningful and honest — not something we were fitting ourselves into, but something that genuinely reflected us.
That is what first drew me to this work.
I have always been someone who is interested in people: what matters to them, what has shaped them, and how they make sense of the important moments in their lives.
My style is calm, warm and quietly organised. I care about getting things right and helping people feel calm and looked after, especially when they are still working out what they want.
I love finding out about couples, especially the small details: the way people talk about each other, the ordinary moments that say something real, the things that might not seem important at first but often become the heart of the ceremony.
Every ceremony I create is written from scratch.
We start with a conversation, and the ceremony grows from there.
