About

Film My Wedding is a new Manchester-based wedding filmmaking business, backed by more than 13 years of professional videography and production experience.

Its founder is an experienced corporate videographer and filmmaker who has spent his career creating films for major brands and organisations. While Film My Wedding is new — and therefore doesn’t yet have a portfolio of wedding films to show — the filmmaking experience behind it certainly isn’t.

There is an extensive portfolio of professional work available to view, demonstrating many of the same skills that go into creating a great wedding film: storytelling, interviewing, capturing genuine moments as they happen, working quickly in live environments, professional audio recording, multi-camera filming, and, importantly, turning everything captured on the day into a beautifully edited final film.

To build Film My Wedding’s first wedding portfolio, a limited number of couples are being offered full professional wedding videography for just £500 + agreed travel and other necessary expenses.

The aim isn’t to reinvent a wedding day as a film shoot. Film My Wedding takes a relaxed, unobtrusive approach, capturing the people, conversations, emotions, and moments that make each wedding different.

Couples taking advantage of the introductory offer get an experienced professional filmmaker at a fraction of the eventual package price. In return, Film My Wedding gets the opportunity to create some brilliant first wedding films and begin building its portfolio.

Based in the North West and available for weddings across the UK.

Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?

A wedding day goes incredibly quickly. You can’t be everywhere, you won’t see everything, and some of the moments you’ll treasure most might happen when you’re not even in the room. That’s what Film My Wedding looks for. The approach is rooted in documentary filmmaking: being present without taking over. Rather than constantly staging moments or asking couples to perform for the camera, the focus is on capturing the day as it really happens — the nervous look before the ceremony, your dad seeing you for the first time, the ridiculous thing your best friend whispers to you, the people laughing when they don’t know they’re being filmed. And sound matters just as much as pictures. The voices of the people you love, the words spoken during your ceremony, the speeches, the laughter and all those little interactions are part of the memory too. With 13+ years of professional filmmaking experience, Film My Wedding combines unobtrusive documentary coverage with professional cameras, carefully captured audio and considered storytelling in the edit. The result isn’t designed to feel like a wedding video. It’s designed to feel like your wedding. And years from now, hopefully it won’t just remind you what the day looked like. It’ll take you back to how it felt

What kind of equipment do you use?

Film My Wedding’s core setup is built around Sony A7 IV full-frame cameras and professional Sony lenses — a lightweight, high-quality setup that allows the filmmaker to move quickly and discreetly throughout a wedding day without making it feel like a film set. Multiple cameras can be used for key moments such as the ceremony and speeches, allowing different perspectives to be captured while staying out of the way. For more candid parts of the day, the setup can be stripped right back, making it easier to capture those spontaneous moments without a large camera rig changing the atmosphere. Sound is just as important as the pictures. RØDE and DJI professional wireless microphones, dedicated audio recording equipment and on-camera audio can be combined to make sure the words you’ll want to hear again — your vows, speeches, laughter and conversations — are captured as beautifully as the images. Every wedding is different, so the equipment shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all either. Depending on the venue, size of the wedding, lighting conditions and the coverage a couple chooses, additional specialist cameras, lenses, lighting, audio or production equipment can be hired specifically for the booking. This will all be discussed with the couple beforehand. Film My Wedding will assess what the day requires and build the right production setup around it — whether that’s keeping things deliberately small and discreet or bringing additional equipment and crew for a larger or more complex wedding. The goal is simple: have the right equipment in the right place when it matters, while making sure the wedding still feels like a wedding — not a production

How do you work?

It starts with getting to know the couple. Before the wedding, Film My Wedding will talk through the day, the people who matter, the moments you’re most excited about and anything that makes your wedding particularly yours. Of course, the ceremony, first kiss and speeches matter — but knowing that your grandad has travelled halfway across the country to be there, or that your best friend is almost guaranteed to cry, can matter just as much. On the day, the approach is simple: be where the moments are, without becoming part of them. There will be times when a little direction helps create a beautiful shot, but for most of the day the aim is to let you forget there’s a camera there at all. Film My Wedding works in a documentary style, anticipating moments, watching the people around you and capturing things naturally as they unfold. For the moments that can’t be repeated — particularly the ceremony and speeches — multiple cameras and professional audio can be used to make sure they’re properly covered without constantly moving around or getting in the way. Then comes the edit. That’s where hundreds of individual moments become your story. The big moments sit alongside the tiny ones you might have missed completely: a look across the room, your parents’ reaction, something whispered just before the ceremony, your friends losing it on the dance floor. The aim isn’t to manufacture a perfect version of your wedding. It’s to give you back the day you actually had — including the parts you didn’t get to see
