Despite having lived in the area most of my life, I had never heard of Walton Castle before we started looking for a wedding venue, and what an absolute find it was. As soon as we met Mandy and Margarita for the initial viewing, we knew it was the place where we wanted to get married.
We hired the venue from the Friday to the Monday and then had a blank canvas to work from, meaning we could create the perfect day for us. Having never planned a wedding before, the Walton Castle team shared their knowledge and guidance, emailed across a list of potential suppliers as a starting point for us and made the whole process clear and manageable. Mandy and Margarita were extremely responsive to emails and texts and helped in any way they could.
On the wedding day itself, Neil and Mandy were brilliant. They made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes, ensured there were plenty of drinks to keep the guests happy, and were on hand whenever needed. We wouldn't have had such the perfect day without them.
What makes Walton Castle so special is that it gives you the freedom to create a day that’s entirely your own. It was the perfect setting for our wedding; magical, memorable, and was honestly the best party ever. We can’t recommend it enough for anyone planning a wedding, or any type of celebration.

Margarita and Mandy have been so wonderful and helpful! The venue is like something out of a fairytale and all our guests love it! The venue has a great layout and is easy for everyone to socialise but also have time away! -

A wonderful experience from start to finish!
We cannot recommend Walton Castle enough as a wedding venue. It’s beautiful and we lost track of how many compliments we received on the day. Margarita and Mandy (and also Carly and co on the wedding day itself) were wonderful from start to finish, from the pre-planning to the day they were there and we felt confident that we were in good hands. The castle itself and the turrets are beautiful and beautifully presented - we definitely recommend making the most of the venue and staying a day or two beforehand as it truly is incredible.
Thank you for making our wedding day one we won’t forget!

Being a wedding musician myself, I have performed at many wonderful and extravagant venues. When my husband and I were looking for a venue, I personally struggled with picking somewhere. I found Walton Castle just by chance on google maps and we went for a tour. We were both blown away by the view from the balcony as we were able to see the sea and thought this would make wonderful memories. It also meant a lot to my husband as he is in the Royal Navy. We both knew instantly that this was our venue.
It ticked a lot of our boxes with it being close enough to Bristol for our local guests to travel to and from, as well as enough rooms and beds for our immediate family and friends to stay.
It is a blank canvas venue where you can design your wedding to what you want. Not only do you have the space inside the ground but also the outside surroundings of the castle where you and your guests can go mingle near the fire pit late in the evening.
A lot of couples get married between the middle turret and the main gates, but for me that was quite a short walk especially as a harpist I have a great appreciation for the aisle walk music. Once I saw their grandiose 2 trees entwining, I knew that instantly it was where I wanted to make my vows and as it turns out we were the first to do that at the venue.
The team was great with keeping in contact with us when we arrived the day before the wedding. Like any wedding, we had a few hiccups like our master bedroom bath tap not turning off on the wedding morning at 6am (it’s an old building, these things happen). But with the Walton Castle team not being too far from the main venue, they were there in no time to help solve any problems.
Our guests who stayed at the castle really appreciated the large bedrooms that were provided and the kids definitely made use of the underground pool the day before the wedding.
All our guests loved our small tours to the balcony for photos and my husband and I had some wonderful pictures taken at the baby grand piano within one of the turrets.
For anyone thinking of booking, I would recommend finding well established suppliers who know the venue or who are willing to go view it beforehand. Especially as they will need to have good communication with the venue and with what it provides (ie electrical/generators).
As a client, you are in charge of booking everything, it could be very helpful booking an external wedding planner for this venue. Make sure to pick companies that know the industry well and will go that extra mile to get all the smaller jobs done for you. As I said at the start, you are booking a blank canvas to make your dream wedding, and Walton Castle is that perfect setting to add to.

Wonderful venue
We recently had our wedding at the castle and had an amazing time. The venue is absolutely beautiful and wowed our guests which was particularly nice as some of them had travelled very far. The castle feels very private as is hidden on top of a hill with lovely views. Margarita and Mandy were always available to help and answer any queries throughout the planning process, which was appreciated as planning a wedding can be very stressful. Neil met us on arrival and was very helpful with our vendors, at one point driving back to the castle within about 10 minutes when we had a problem. Mandy was great throughout, and on the day in particular. We highly recommend a memorable wedding at Walton Castle! -
