Wedding at Lumley Castle

Had no regrets for having our wedding at Lumley Castle. All the family and guests enjoyed the food and the party. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We want to say a massive thanks to you and the rest of the Weddings Team, especially Emma and Alex. The day went superbly and we really couldn’t have asked for anything more,

All of our guests, some of which had never been to Lumley Castle, were enchanted with it, and fell in love with its unique quirkiness. I don’t think Lily has ever had so many “hello’s”.

We feel extremely blessed that we had such an professional team working hard to create the perfect day for us, and at the head of that team was you Holly. You are so good at your job. Efficiency personified, and a 1000 thank-yous are not enough. From sorting out our precise accommodation requests, the perfect menu and drinks, my never ending calls and emails regarding trivial little details, and you did it all with a perfect blend of calm and reassurance.

As you may remember when we first met you, we said we have been visiting Lumley for the best part of 20 years and it is always our “No 1 go-to” place whenever we have a special occasion, birthday, anniversary, ... or even just a Wednesday!

So much so, we are coming to stay this Monday for 2 nights. We’ve had a tricky January what with one thing and another, and just need a little getaway, and Lumley feels like a home from home to us.

So again, please accept our heartfelt thanks for giving us such a memorable day, we will never forget it.

We found lumley as a venue quite by accident as it wasn't somewhere we had thought about. but from walking in the door we knew it was the venue for us! The castle is beautiful with an amazing atmosphere and it really was a dream venue to us!
From the very start of the process the planning staff could not be more helpful. We always felt like our questions were welcomed and they were accommodating in every aspect. Our day went perfectly, the staff were amazing and the food was lovely. I can not recommend them enough.
A massive thank you to Holly, Kim and all the staff who worked on the day xxx

Don't know where to start! We cannot thank yourself and Tony enough for giving us the day of our dreams. We really did have a fairytale. Everything was completely perfect. The only thing we picked up on was the DJs skills were a bit dated. He didn't know a lot of the songs people were requesting and the floor was a bit empty. However, we had enough entertainment elsewhere so it wasn't an issue.
A big thank you to Tony who went above and beyond for us nothing was too much trouble.

From the moment we went to a wedding fair at Lumley we were so impressed by the staff, service and venue that they went straight to the top of our list!

The organisation and support before the day was top notch and we felt very safe in the hands of the wedding and operations team.

The day itself was a dream. The staff were friendly and welcoming to our guests. They took care of everything so all my husband and I had to do was enjoy the day. They were accommodating to our wishes so our guests enjoyed themselves too.

The venue itself is stunning and made such a good impression on our guests. It also looked amazing in photos!

We are incredibly pleased with our experience with Lumley Castle and genuinely cannot praise it highly enough.

Without a doubt the right venue

Lumley Castle was without doubt the right venue for our wedding and we are really pleased we chose it. Everything ran smoothly on the day, it’s a venue with a lot of experience of weddings and they know what they are doing. David was our Co-ordinator on the day and he was great, helpful, nothing was too much trouble and it felt like he really cared about everything running smoothly. We booked the Scarbrough room for our ceremony and the Baron Suite for the reception. It was lovely to have the two options for the two elements of our day. The Baron Suite is really quirky - if you book it and go for table flowers I recommend utilising the candelabras, we did and they looked fab with trailing flowers arranged by our florist. Emma and Holly were excellent in terms of the planning, very helpful, knew their stuff and were very responsive. One of the things I found stressful with wedding planning was when suppliers didn’t get back very promptly but that was never an issue with Lumley. Always consistent in terms of communication. Price wise, we went with the sapphire package and it felt reasonable for what we got, our guests loved the food. There wasn’t much negotiation on price for things, some prices/pricing strategies were set in stone. So if you are looking for a lot of negotiation price wise then this may not be the venue for you. However I don’t know that other venues are big on negotiation either. If you want to get married somewhere that’s extremely picturesque for photos, quirky for guests and with staff who genuinely are lovely then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lumley Castle. We had a brilliant day and our chosen venue was definitely part of this.

Perfect Day

We had a very intimate wedding with just the 2 of us and our daughter. Emma our wedding coordinator made sure that the package we choose was tailored right for us and kept us updated which was brill and we want to thank her for that. The King James suite was even better than the pics and the bed one of the most comfortable I have slept in.
Massive thank you to Kim and Claire our witnesses. And a massive well done to Kim and her team: Sam, Sharon and Sarah for making our night in the restaurant perfect. Their customer service was of a high standard. Kim made sure that our evening meal was exactly as we expected it, on time, nothing was to much trouble for her. A real asset to the hotel. The food was also cooked beautifully and the quality was outstanding. So hats off to the Chefs.
It was great to be looked after by very professional but still friendly staff.
If you are at Lumley Castle and you feel the menu is quite basic for your taste, speak with the restaurant team, they will make an ordinary meal extraordinary.

Elizabethan Banquet Wedding

We got married on the 7th July 2018 at Lumley Castle, The weather was sunny and the venue is beautiful. Due to the number of guests attending, we had our Marriage ceremony in the Barons Hall.
As it was 2nd time around for both my wife and I, we decided to break convention and went with the Elizabethan banquet instead of the traditional wedding breakfast.
Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment that went with it. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. There are also some lovely areas in the grounds for some great photographs to look back upon the memories of the day.
I highly recommend Lumley Castle.

Beyond Perfect

Our wedding here was beyond perfect. Right from our first visit we knew we’d made the right decision. The staff were attentive and so knowledgable. The venue speaks for itself, we love being able to tell our little boy “mammy & daddy we’re married in a castle!”.
The food was another huge highlight, the wedding breakfast was delicious as was the evening buffet.
Our guests' highlights were how the day flowed so well and also... the sausage rolls?! Apparently they were to die for!? They still get talked about to this day!
We would definitely say, if you’re looking for a stand out venue where nothing is too much trouble, take a look at Lumley

Magnificent

Thank you! Our wedding day was magnificent and we couldn't fault Lumley Castle or any of the staff at all, they all helped to enhance our special day.

Thank you again for all your help leading up to our special day and again for the help on the day, the staff were fantastic.
