The best choice we could have made

We got married at Gilbert White’s House & Gardens in August 2025, and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. The setting is breathtaking, surrounded by nature, with views across the South Downs that make it feel like your own little world. Our ceremony was under a flower arch on the hill, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful or personal.

We worked with Jamie, who was amazing from start to finish. He was calm, kind, and genuinely invested in helping the day run smoothly. He even collected the bridal party from the entrance to make sure the band started at the perfect moment and was so hands on throughout; moving things around, keeping the day flowing, and always one step ahead. He really went above and beyond, and we’re so grateful.

The barn looked magical with all the lights, and our guests loved wandering through the gardens and playing games on the lawn. We also loved that the venue supports a charity and cares about nature and sustainability, it really made us feel like our money was going to good use beyond our wedding.

It’s such a special place, full of warmth and care. We’ll treasure it forever.

Perfect venue for our perfect day!

We had our wedding at Gilbert White’s on the 6th of September 2025, it was just the perfect day and an absolutely amazing venue! We had changes in our wedding contact but they made sure all our information was passed on and everything ran smoothly, Jamie was are coordinator for our big day and was incredible! He was consistently responsive, helpful, friendly and helped make our day run smoothly.

The location itself is stunning, we had our ceremony in a little woodland/copse in the main field and our reception and evening in the barn, great to be able to personalise it to exactly how you want. It was great to be able to come the Friday before to set everything up and we also appreciated that there was just one straightforward fee with no hidden costs.

Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Great venue, great team, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommend!

The most perfect wedding day!

We cannot praise Jamie and the team at Gilbert White’s enough. We had the most perfect wedding day! The team are so professional and prompt with communication. The venue is gorgeous and excellent value for money. The team are amazing in helping everything run smoothly and we would highly recommend the venue to anyone!

Our July 2025 Wedding

We had the most incredible wedding at Gilbert White's House barn in Selborne this July, and we couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out. The weather was hot, and the venue looked absolutely stunning in the summer light, with the surrounding gardens and historic buildings creating the perfect backdrop. The team at Gilbert White's were exceptional—professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. They went above and beyond to help us set up the day before, and even helped clear up after the celebrations on Sunday.

What really stood out was the flexibility of the venue. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and they worked with us to make sure the day was exactly how we envisioned it. It was amazing value for money considering the location, service, and support we received.

We also can’t speak highly enough of the caterers, Lemonstone Events. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly suited to a hot summer's day. So many of our guests commented on how good the meal was.

All in all, we had the most perfect day and would highly recommend Gilbert White's House for anyone planning a wedding in Hampshire.

The perfect summer countryside wedding

I would recommend Gilbert White’s to anyone and everyone. The venue is so special - I grew up nearby and when I showed my partner he was immediately sold. It was just beautiful! The barn is perfect - the on-site kitchen helped with the catering bill (!) and the interior worked so well for the look we wanted. The wildflower meadow is breathtaking. Jamie went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect - he was always prompt in replying, friendly, super flexible and professional. Our wedding was absolutely perfect, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

A dream come true, the most beautiful day

Gilbert Whites House is such a special venue, so peaceful and incredibly beautiful. We had the most amazing day, we felt so lucky to be married outside in the meadow with our family and friends with flowers all around and birds singing.
Jamie the event manager was so helpful and made the day run perfectly in such a calm and professional way along with his team. It was so special to be able to set up and decorate the afternoon before making it personal and beautiful for our guests.
We had such a happy, relaxed and memorable day. Perfect.

Best day of our life

We got married here two weeks ago now and can not stop thinking about how perfect the day was ! It was completely stress free for both of us as all the staff there were amazing ! We are still being told by all our guests how beautiful the venue is and how relaxed they felt just being there ! We could not recommend Gilbert Whites house more if we wanted to !

10/10 recommend - The Barn at Gilbert White's is a spectacular venue and Jamie (event manager) couldn't have been more helpful and easy to work with

We got married at The Barn at Gilbert White's in September 2024 - a stunning venue which worked perfectly, both visually but also contributing to a relaxed and fun environment. The Barn sat our 90 guests really comfortably, with useful facilities like the kitchen, toilets and parking nearby and accessible. Jamie, the Event Manager, was superb - really friendly, helpful and easy to work with - both in the run up and on the day. He also sorted bits out like ordering chairs and provided garden games free. We looked at several venues locally to this and found this one to be good value comparatively. Our day couldn't have gone any better, which the venue and Jamie had a big role in. Definitely recommend!

The perfect wedding day

The staff were all very professional and confident, this promoted a relaxed feeling to our wedding day.

Every guest commented on how beautiful the venue was and the barn looked incredible.

The staff were very attentive and sorted out requests quickly.

Pre-wedding organisation from Jamie was fantastic and he was very quick to respond or sort any queries.

The day was perfect, we couldn’t be happier and we certainly couldn’t recommend enough.

Great wedding venue

We had a fantastic day at Gilbert White's House. The team had a challenging time as we were originally due to get married in May 2019 and the date had to be moved about 4 times! The process was smooth and everyone on the team was really helpful. They were very accommodating and patient with us as we a bit hectic in the last few weeks of planning! It was a great day and everyone raved about the venue. Special thanks to Monique, Tasha and Jo who were all very kind to us and put up with my lack of knowledge of wedding planning! xx
