I recently was a guest at a wedding at the Clock Barn Whitchurch.
Quite a few days before the event there had been an extreme weather warning it was forecast the hottest day of the year boy did they get that right, we endured 30 degree heat!
The clock barn had a duty of care that day to every single guest that attended yet they put absolutely nothing in place for the guests concerning the extreme temperatures!
There were guests in their 80’s and a heavily pregnant guest, not to mention the bride who had the most beautiful princess wedding dress on that must have weighed a tonne and lined to the hilt!
The ceremony was held in a room the size of a shoebox, everyone was practically sitting on top of each other and there was no air con or fans or anything to relieve you of the sauna style experience!
Luckily the ceremony was short and we were able to escape to the gardens!
Please be aware this function/wedding event venue has absolutely NO air conditioning or industrial style fans, and there was no attempt from the venue to hire them for the day even though the country was full warned of the heatwave we were going to have that day!
When we went inside for the wedding meal the temperature must have been close to 40 degrees!
The bride passed out and staff were running around with napkins filled with ice trying to cool down guests that were overheating!
It was awful, no one could enjoy the meal, no one could enjoy the table wine, everyone wanted to escape, I felt so sorry for the bride & groom that had spent thousands of pounds on their wedding for it to be ruined by a penny pinching venue that had no regard for their guests!
In the evening the DJ set up, he played practically the whole set to an empty room, it was just too hot for anyone to stay in for more than a couple of minutes at a time!
A couple of weeks before the wedding the venue contacted the bride & groom and asked them for an extra £1400 for “food” I find this absolutely disgusting, this young couple had a booked the wedding 2 years beforehand and had a contract with the Clock Barn, they then demand a huge amount of money weeks before their big day, what a joke, beware of this company, they totally took advantage of the bride & grooms vulnerability and anxieties about the venue cancelling their wedding day if they didn’t forward extra money, demanded outside of the contract!
FUTURE BRIDE & GROOM BEWARE THIS IS A COMPANY THAT TAKES YOUR MONEY AND DOES NOT CARE!
I can imagine the venue is beautiful but I never got to experience it as it was just too hot to spend anytime inside!
Bet the bar took hardly any money as everyone stuck to soft drinks as it was too hot to drink alcohol!
If they had invested in portable air con or industrial fans to keep the place cool more of us would have had a tipple or two!
Would not recommend this venue unless you’re happy to be treated badly!

There is no denying that the UK experienced exceptionally high temperatures on the day in question. As a traditional barn venue, our Main Barn is not air-conditioned, a feature that many of our couples value as part of the venue's authentic character.
Throughout the day, our team worked tirelessly to support everyone by providing water, ice and assistance wherever it was needed, with the welfare of everyone present remaining our highest priority.
We were particularly saddened to read the suggestion that we did not care for the couple. Knowing that the bride had been unwell, their Event Manager contacted our General Manager first thing the following morning to ensure that we checked in on her wellbeing. The couple also extended their gratitude and thanks following on from the wedding day.
We must also address the comments regarding our contract and pricing. The suggestion that additional money was demanded outside of the contractual agreement, or that the couple were pressured with the threat of cancellation, is categorically false. We pride ourselves on conducting our business with honesty, transparency and professionalism, and all contractual matters are handled in accordance with our agreed terms.
Following this review, we have reached out to the couple directly to ensure there are no outstanding concerns they wish to raise with us, as the sentiments expressed here have not been received from them following their wedding.
Whilst we welcome constructive feedback, it is deeply disappointing to see such serious and unfounded allegations made about a team who worked with care, compassion and professionalism throughout an exceptionally challenging day.

We had the most perfect wedding day and knew the second we toured it that this would be the venue for us. We only toured one other venue after clock barn and it didn't come close. Everything, from the immaculate grounds to the friendly staff ,was brilliant. Norleen was our event manager but every single member of staff we spoke to was so professional and helped make our day so special. The chefs were so accommodating for dietary requirements, and when we wanted to pick something not on the menu they couldn't have been more obliging. The food was truly phenomenal. I think it's a true testament to the quality of service at clock barn that every person we spoke to regarding our wedding plans (potential vendors, guests from previous weddings) had nothing but positive things to say about it. It really was the most perfect day and i'm gutted that it's over! It is worth every penny and I can't recommend it enough.Clock Barn's reply:

From the moment we booked Clock Barn, everything was completely stress-free. The booking process was simple and straightforward, and at our very first meeting with Abi we were instantly put at ease — she made us feel completely confident that we were in the best hands.
Our wedding experience only confirmed that we’d made the perfect choice. The menu was outstanding — every guest commented on how delicious the food was, and the attention to detail was second to none. On the day itself, everything ran like clockwork (no pun intended!), and we didn’t have to worry about a single thing other than the usual pre-wedding butterflies. The whole team took care of absolutely everything and did it all with such warmth and professionalism.
One of the biggest highlights for us was being able to have our dogs with us at the ceremony. They’re such a huge part of our lives, and it meant the world that they could be there — it truly made the day feel complete.
The accommodation was absolutely beautiful, and the cooked breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen the next morning was such a lovely touch — it gave everyone a chance to relive all the special moments from the day before.
We honestly couldn’t recommend Clock Barn highly enough. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful venue with a team who genuinely care about making your day perfect. Everything about our experience was beyond amazing — we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!Clock Barn's reply:

Clock Barn was the exact venue we were looking for. It fit our rustic theme perfectly and as soon as we viewed this place we didn't need to look at any other venues.
The whole process from booking to our big day went very smoothly and the day itself was amazing and one never to forget. The staff onsite were fantastic, they were very attentive and nothing seemed too much of a bother for them (even with our many requests)

Our wedding at The Clock Barn just could not have been more perfect, other than it lasting longer. We did not want it to end. The venue is just amazing and had everything we needed.
