What Questions Should I Ask My Wedding Venue?

There are lots of important questions you should ask a potential wedding venue. Some of these include: is this venue available on our wedding date? What's the final price, and what's included in that? How many guests can it accommodate? What services do you offer? What are your policies regarding deposits and cancellation?

When Should I Start Looking For Wedding Venues?

It's generally recommended to start looking for venues a year in advance, or earlier if possible. However, it depends on the time of year you're planning on holding your event. For peak season weddings (during the summer months) you will usually need to book the venue 12-14 months in advance. For off-season weddings, though, 9-12 months should be enough.

How Much Does The Average Wedding Venue Cost?

This varies widely depending on the type of venue, the time of year, and other factors. The average price of a wedding venue in the UK is estimated to be roughly £5,400. However, you can of course find venues for far cheaper than this if you don't mind a more low-key setting for your wedding. To save costs, you could hold your ceremony in the registry office and only book a venue for the reception.

A massive thank you to the just amazing Vicky and the rest of the team at hillsborough castle for giving us the wedding of our dreams. From the minute we booked hillsborough back in 2023, Vicky has been a constant support. Nothing was too much and the guys went above and beyond to make sure on the day itself, and even the build up to the wedding that everything was effortless. My nephew took ill on the day and the staff so kindly let him have one of the rooms to lie down in away from the hustle and bustle of the drinks reception, he even got a little teddy to keep which he still hasn’t let out of his sight. We supplied our own alcohol however the catering staff from the on site restaurant supplied canapés and Prosecco, and they were stunning. The staff all so friendly and welcoming. The castle itself is stunning, and it I think it speaks for itself really. we have a handful of photos so far and they’re just out of this world. If we had to redo the day again there isn’t one thing we would do differently. If you have your wedding here then I promise you truly will be be blown away. Thank you again - we really will never forget it. Kirsty & Jack 28.03.2025

I could not recommend Hugh McCann’s for a wedding more. I had not even been to the venue prior to arriving days before my wedding, yet it ended up being so gorgeous, rustic, and relaxed. Lee, our coordinator, was the kindest and most attentive person for the job. He set my mind at ease and assured me that everything would be perfect, AND IT WAS. Throughout planning, they were accommodating and easily accessible, even for me being in Canada. I was beyond impressed on my wedding day and can’t wait to visit one day again!

My sister had her recent wedding here, we asked next day to look at civil suite as we were planning our wedding for 2012, we have now booked for 2012 even tho my sister had hers here, i initially didnt want same venue for that reason... however the level of service she recieved from each and every mamber of staff so sooo good that i wouldnt want my wedding anywhere else.

We got married in September 2003. We had the reception in the Burrendale and I cannot recommend it highly enough. All the staff were very professional and helpful. We had a lot of people come from England and they were made to feel very welcome. so much so that some have actually ventured back! We had some lovely photos taken insdie and outside in the garden. If anyone wants a fantastic reception please go here - they make you feel so relaxed about the whole day.

We couldn't recommend the Clandeboye Lodge highly enough, every aspect of the day was perfect. The team treated us as if we were the only couple getting married every time we were in contact, and were so responsive even at weekends. They truly care about every wedding, and are so personable, with great advice and guidance through the process. The all inclusive package was brilliant and had everything we needed, and really helped to have a total figure rather than individual costings for every aspect of the day. It's the most beautiful venue, and little to no additional decor is required which also adds to the value. The food was absolutely perfect, and the highlight of our day. Highly recommend the tasting menu in the Coq and Bull too, it was so enjoyable and really helped us narrow down options.

From the start to the end the day was perfect. The team was uncreadable and very supportive there was nothing too much to ask. The St Oliver Plunkett Church ruins was magical and very special place for our ceremony and the Loughcrew Estate was perfect fit for our intimate wedding. The chef prepared amazing food and guests was left speacheless. I would highly recommend Loughcrew Estate to other couples.
