The Vision: A Gathering of Worlds
Our wedding wasn’t just a day; it was a rare alignment of every chapter of our lives. We had family flying in from Brazil and Canada to meet friends and family from England and Amsterdam. Knowing that this specific group of humans will likely never be together in the same place again made every moment feel heartbreakingly precious. If I could go back and tell my anxious morning self one thing, it would be that everything would be perfect. The moment I saw Felipe, every fear fell away. I truly felt like I wanted to live inside that day forever.
The Ceremony: A Legacy of "I Dos"
Our ceremony was a reinforcement of a love we’ve felt from the start. A few highlights made it truly "us": The Accidental Legacy: Felipe gave me the wrong hand for his ring! We found out later his grandfather did the exact same thing at his wedding decades ago.
A Global Connection: Felipe’s Uncle Domingos translated for our Brazilian guests, ensuring everyone understood our vows.

Our celebrant used a quote from Winnie the Pooh (who, anyone who knows me can attest, I have a particular soft spot for) that perfectly captured us: "Piglet says: ‘We’ll be friends forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ Pooh answers: ‘Even longer.’
"The Aperitivo: Icebreakers & Icons
Under the Tuscan sun, we held an aperitif hour with an immaculate live band and a game of "Find the Guest" Bingo. It was the ultimate icebreaker! Guests discovered our guest list included a person baptised by the Pope, a cycling legend, a polyglot fluent in five languages, and enough PhDs to start a university. It turned a group of strangers into a community of "icons."
The Party: Champagne, Cake, and Choreography
The reception was a whirlwind of emotion and laughter. The speeches had us in tears, followed by a Best Man’s Trump impression that had the room crying for a different reason! We cut our cake to "Get Right Back Where We Started From" before Felipe turned the reception into a Formula 1 podium finish, spraying champagne everywhere (and nearly drenching our very brave photographer!). To cool down, we had an ice cream cart (a gift from my parents) which was a total hit with everyone.
The First Dance: Ditching the Script.
We had a choreographed dance to "Something" by The Beatles under a fairy-lit gazebo. It lasted exactly 30 seconds before we decided to wing it and just be ourselves. It was the most magical way to transition into a night of dancing the night away with our favorite people.
Advice for Brides
That "strange grief" you feel when the day ends is just a reflection of how much love was in the room. Embrace every second, even the mistakes, like the wrong hand for the ring, because those are the moments that become your favourite stories.
