A Stormy Twilight Wedding, a Little Bridgerton Magic, and the Most Magical “I Do” 🤍✨Our wedding day was everything we had ever dreamed of and so much more. It was a day filled with love, laughter, happy tears, unexpected twists, a little bit of Bridgerton magic, and memories we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
But above all, it was the day I married my best friend after weeks apart, and the moment I finally saw him waiting for me at the altar is something I will never forget. Ed is in the RAF, and because of his commitments, we hadn't seen each other for a couple of weeks before our wedding. With our big day approaching, we were counting down the days until we could finally be together again. Ed wasn't released from base camp until Thursday night — the night before we got married! After weeks apart, we barely had time to catch our breath before our wedding day arrived. And because I hadn't seen him for so long, the first time I saw him properly was when I walked towards him at the altar. That moment was worth every second of missing him, and it made seeing him standing there, waiting to become my husband, even more emotional. ❤️The magic actually began the night before, when my bridesmaids and I buried a sausage for good luck. Yes, a sausage! 😂🌭 We were taking absolutely no chances when it came to making sure our big day was blessed with good fortune!
Continue reading »On the morning of the wedding, I got ready with my mum, which meant more to me than words could ever explain. My mum has cancer, so being able to share those precious moments with her, have her beside me, and experience my dream wedding day together was something I will treasure forever. There are moments in life you wish you could freeze in time, and getting ready with my mum was one of them. It reminded me just how precious life is and how much these memories mean.
Of course, no fairytale wedding comes without a little drama! I ended up arriving 45 minutes late because a tree had fallen across the road. Poor Ed was waiting at the altar, nearly having a heart attack and probably wondering whether I'd got cold feet! 😂 Little did he know that I was desperate to get there and marry him. After weeks apart, there was absolutely no way I was turning back! And then there was the weather. It rained, and we even had a storm, but honestly, it didn't matter one little bit. Not even the British weather could dampen our happiness. We may not have had the perfect forecast, but we had the most perfect reason to celebrate.
Looking back, the storm became another part of our story — because even when things don't go to plan, the most beautiful moments can still happen. We chose a twilight wedding, and the atmosphere was everything we had dreamed of: romantic, magical, and full of love. Our venue already held so many special memories for us. It was where Ed and I had our first date, where we celebrated our baby shower, and now, where we became husband and wife. Choosing to get married there felt like bringing our story full circle. The place where our journey began became the place where we promised each other forever. Inspired by the elegance and romance of Bridgerton, I even wrote wishes on little pieces of paper for the tables, adding a personal touch to our celebration. I wanted the day to feel romantic, thoughtful, and a little bit like stepping into our own fairytale.
Our beautiful daughter was our flower girl, and seeing her be part of our wedding was one of the most precious moments of all. This wasn't just about two people saying “I do”; it was about celebrating the little family we have created and the future we are building together. Having my mum there, our daughter beside us, and our closest family and friends surrounding us made the day mean more than I could ever explain. But we also wanted our wedding to be a proper celebration!
We had a magician entertaining everyone during cocktail hour, followed by a singing waiter who got our guests up on their feet and brought the party to life. We even had Forever Frames as wedding favours, giving everyone a little keepsake to take home and remember our special day.
And me? I genuinely don't think I've ever smiled so much in my entire life. I danced all night! I was surrounded by the people I love, celebrating that I had finally married my person after weeks apart. Every time I looked around, I felt so lucky. The day went by in a flash, but I wanted to soak up every single second. Looking back, it wasn't the rain, the storm, the 45-minute delay, or even the sausage buried the night before that made our wedding perfect. It was seeing Ed waiting for me at the altar after weeks apart. It was having my mum there to share my dream day. It was watching our daughter walk down the aisle. It was marrying at the place where our love story began, surrounded by our favourite people, laughing, dancing, and celebrating together.
We had a storm outside, but nothing could touch the sunshine we felt inside. ❤️Our wedding reminded us that life doesn't always go to plan, that time with the people we love is precious, and that the best memories are often made in the most unexpected moments. We didn't need perfect weather or a perfectly timed entrance. We just needed each other, our beautiful family, and the people who mean the world to us.
If I could relive one day over and over again, it would be this one. The day I finally saw Ed again, walked towards him at the altar, and became his wife. The day my mum was there, our daughter was our beautiful flower girl, and all the people we love came together to celebrate our future. A little Bridgerton romance, a sausage for good luck, a stormy sky, a very late bride, an RAF husband who made it home just in time, and a whole lifetime of love.
Our wedding wasn't just a fairytale. It was our real-life love story — imperfect, emotional, full of surprises, and more beautiful than we could ever have imagined. And when I finally saw Ed standing at the altar, I knew every second of waiting had been worth it. 🤍🥹✨
