04 Dec, 2025Our Real Wedding
The day began very early at the beautiful venue of Chicheley Hall. We were hoping for a sunny and frosty winter morning, but unfortunately, we had rain most of the day; this didn’t dampen the day at all!
My 3 beautiful bridesmaids (my sister and 2 best friends) and I started having our hair and make-up done by 2 wonderful and talented ladies. The bridesmaids also did an amazing job of calming my last-minute nerves, and had packed plenty of snacks and Prosecco to keep us going. Once we were ready and dressed, one of the bridesmaids’ husbands came up to see us and took some photos, as he had very kindly offered to be our photographer for the day - this took away so much stress and pressure, and he did a brilliant job!
I was then reunited with my 4-year-old daughter, who looked so beautiful and grown up in her dress. It felt very surreal and emotional at this point! It was then time to walk down the aisle, a moment I had been extremely nervous about. I shared a nervous look with my sister, who whispered and smiled ‘everything will be fine’.

Thankfully, my dad was cracking jokes at this point, which took away a lot of my nerves! I then looked at my husband to be, and felt so thankful for this moment. We had been together for 9 years, we were each other’s best friends, and he is always so supportive, kind and always knows how to make me laugh. We had both been so excited for this moment, and as I walked towards him, I could see him crying. We immediately hugged each other, then he shook my dad’s hand and thanked him.
Throughout the ceremony, he held my hands tightly, and as we shared our vows and were announced as ‘husband and wife’, I felt so happy and proud of us as a couple. To also be surrounded by our family and closest friends was such a special moment, and we were so grateful for some family members who had travelled miles to be there. Furthermore, I now had the same surname as my beautiful little girl, another moment I had been dreaming of!
The rest of the day was filled with drinks, wonderful food and lots of dancing. The speeches took place before dinner, and everyone did an amazing job. My dad recalled several embarrassing stories of me, and thanked Casey for being the man he is - a perfect partner, and a brilliant dad to our daughter. Casey’s older brother (his best man) then followed with his speech. He is a natural comedian, so there was lots of laughter in the room. Casey then did his speech. He had mentioned beforehand that he was slightly nervous, but you honestly couldn’t tell; he did so well, and everyone was so proud of him.
As the evening carried on, the rain had eased off, so we took our guests outside and all lit some sparklers together. We also had some soft play that had been set up in one of the rooms for the kids. They all loved this, and I think it did a good job of wearing them out! The night ended with a bit of karaoke courtesy of the best man - he sang ‘Sittin’ on the dock of the bay’, a favourite song of mine and Casey’s.
The whole day was so perfect and will be a memory forever cherished; it felt very laid back, everyone got on so well together, and there was so much laughter throughout the day. I don’t think we could have asked for a better day - apart from losing my voice by the end of the night! 😀
