Our Real Wedding

Me and Aaron have been together for nearly 13 years. For our 10 year anniversary, we took a bucket list trip to New York. None the wiser, I was busy taking pictures of a beautiful sunset under the Brooklyn Bridge. When I turned around, Aaron was on one knee and proposing. I don't think I'd ever been more shocked - he's been throwing me off the scent for years!

When the initial shock wore off, the planning started. It was a strange feeling - none of it seemed real whatsoever (that feeling has actually stayed with me!). We found our venue fairly quickly. After a look around with the owners, we knew it was the one for us. It was the beautiful Blakelands Country House which had a warm, rustic feel. Being the organiser out of the two of us, all I asked Aaron for was a potential suit colour then I would make everything else fit! We decided on dusty blue and grey/silver.

While we wanted a perfect day, we also didn't want to break the bank over every little detail so we bought second-hand where we could and DIYed a few things like the confetti (never again!), and I opted for faux flowers. The one thing I didn't scrape on was hair and makeup. The bridal party and I had such a fun, relaxed morning getting ready and I didn't have to worry about my hair and makeup looking a mess because I'd done it myself!
