From the very first call I had with James, I immediately felt at ease. He was warm, calm and incredibly easy to talk to; that same feeling continued throughout the whole process. In the lead-up to the wedding his communication was brilliant – organised, knowledgeable and reassuring – which meant we felt completely confident that everything was in hand.
On the day itself, James was fantastic. Neither of us are particularly comfortable posing for photos, but he made the whole experience feel so relaxed and natural that we almost forgot the camera was there. He blended in so effortlessly with our guests and everyone commented on how great and fun he was on the day. He made a point of ensuring everyone had their photo taken and took some gorgeous couple and family shots of our guests.
When we received the photos we were genuinely blown away. James hasn’t just taken pictures of the day – he’s captured the feeling of it. Looking through the gallery brings everything back: the laughter, the quiet moments, the joy, and so many little details that we didn’t even realise were happening at the time. We especially love the photos of the two of us together. They don’t feel posed or staged at all – they just show us as we were on the day: relaxed, happy and completely ourselves.
We couldn’t be more grateful.

It was an absolute pleasure to have James as our wedding photographer! He made us and our guests feel very comfortable. He was very easy to be around, blended seamlessly with our guests and even spoke a few words of French with my family! James managed to integrate the photos to the flow of the day and it all felt very natural! The photos are wonderful, with a natural/candid style, full of life and unexpected moments, and truly reflect how our wedding day went! We also love how James managed to make the most of our venue (Berwick Lodge, Bristol). We couldn't be happier with both our experience and the results.
We also had an amazing engagement photoshoot with James! It was such a fun and romantic experience. It was a great way to get a first experience of a photoshoot but in a relaxed setting.It made us feel way more confident about our wedding photos and we would definitely recommend it!Just James Weddings's reply:

Your wedding was such a brilliant example of why I love a candid, documentary approach to wedding photography. Rather than taking you away from the celebrations constantly, I want the photography to fit naturally into the flow of the day, allowing me to capture the genuine laughter, emotion, reactions and unexpected moments as they happen. Hearing that your photographs genuinely reflect how the day felt to you is the biggest compliment I could receive.
Berwick Lodge was also such a fantastic setting to work with. There are so many different spaces, pockets of light and little opportunities throughout the venue, and I loved making the most of them while keeping the focus firmly on you and your guests.
And I'm delighted you enjoyed the engagement shoot too! It's one of my favourite parts of the process because it gives us a chance to get to know each other, have some fun and take away any camera nerves before the wedding day. I'm so glad it gave you that extra confidence going into the big day.

James was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, and we’re so glad we booked him to capture our special day at The Barn at Upcote.
James kept us well informed in the lead-up to our day. We had a video call before making the booking, and we knew straight away that James was exactly the vibe we wanted on our wedding day. We’d already seen that his photos were incredible, but it was such a nice opportunity to talk, get to know him and understand his style of photography.
We then had a second call nearer the time to discuss the timings of the day, shot lists and everything in between. James also sent regular emails with advice and tips, which were really helpful and made us feel completely at ease in the run-up to the wedding.
On the day itself, James brought so much energy and plenty of laughs. He knew exactly what he was doing and had some brilliant ideas for our photos. He also timed everything so well, meaning we still got to spend plenty of time with our guests, which was really important to us.
We had our hero shots before 8am the morning after the wedding, and they were just incredible! Knowing how brilliant those photos were made the wait for the full album feel like forever, but wow, it was so worth it.
The pictures are beautiful, natural and look so effortlessly captured. It’s so lovely to see all those little moments from the day that you forget about and be able to treasure them forever. I’m honestly not sure how we’re going to pick just a few for the wall!
James is incredibly talented, and not only are his photos beautiful, but he’s also such a lovely person to have around on your wedding day. You’d be silly not to book him!

Getting to know my couples before the wedding is such an important part of what I do, so hearing that the calls, emails and planning advice helped you feel relaxed and prepared means a lot.
Your wedding day was full of so much energy, laughter and love, and The Barn at Upcote was the perfect setting for it all. I always want couples to spend as much of their wedding day as possible actually enjoying it with their guests, rather than disappearing for hours of photographs, so I'm really pleased we managed to create some amazing couple shots while still giving you plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere.
I'm also so glad you loved waking up to your Hero Shots the next morning! I know waiting for the full gallery can feel like forever, but hearing that it was worth the wait makes all those hours behind the editing screen worthwhile.
My style is all about capturing the day naturally and documenting those moments that you might not have even realised were happening. The big moments are obviously important, but it's often those little glances, reactions and bits of chaos in between that become some of the most treasured photographs.

James, what can we really say? You’ve recreated another wonderful wedding for our family. Your attention to detail is fantastic, and simply having you there on our day made it even more special.
The effort you put in before the wedding to get to know us as people really helped us feel completely at ease. It never felt like you were just our photographer—you felt like part of the day.
You have an incredible ability to capture the right moments at exactly the right time. Every photo tells a story and perfectly reflects what the day was truly about: our love for each other and the importance of family.
You make the whole day flow naturally without ever putting pressure on the bride or groom, allowing everything to happen organically while still capturing every special moment so beautifully.
We honestly haven’t been able to stop looking at and sharing the photos since we received them. Choosing our favourites has been almost impossible because there are so many incredible images.

From our very first conversation, James made us feel completely at ease. He has a really warm, friendly approach and totally understood our lack of confidence in front of the camera.
We got married at Syrencot in Wiltshire. James told the story of our day exactly as we remember it – full of fun, colour, laughter and precious moments with our family and friends. Nothing felt staged or forced, yet every photo is stunning and full of emotion.
As well as photographing our day perfectly, James acted as a day of coordinator also, organising our guests for the confetti line, bouquet toss, breakfast entrance and many more moments. He also worked amazingly with our content creator, making sure we were focusing on her as well as him in the important moments. We also loved how he contacted our other suppliers before our big day, this really felt like he cared about the atmosphere of the day and creating relationships with other wedding suppliers.
When we received our gallery, we were genuinely blown away. The photos are even more incredible than we could have imagined, and they’ve given us memories we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives.
If you’re looking for someone who can capture the genuine atmosphere and emotion of your wedding while making everyone feel comfortable, we couldn’t recommend him more highly. We’ve had so many of our guests mention how incredible he was, and this is before they’d even seen the photos! From the moment communication started with James he was friendly, clear and showed true interest in making our day special. He was quick to respond to queries, available through a range of platforms and explained his ideas and thoughts concisely.
James was able to split the hours over 2 events, our legal and full wedding day. Which meant we could capture the full event. Everyone complimented how friendly, funny and personable James was on both days.
He followed our plan but also led us to create some incredible photos. Every moment of our day was captured. He managed to get the love, laughter and joy that shone throughout the day. From unexpected weather, large amounts of family to a crowded wedding breakfast room James found a way to capture every moment. He listened to what was important for us to be captured and that we wanted candid photos with a few lightly posed ones.

If you're reading this then you’re probably looking around as to who to choose for your wedding and have that pressure of making the right choice. That was us, who If I say so myself, has quite a high bar. We got that and more with James. Just do it, choose him. You’re investing not only in outstanding wedding photos which will bring a lifetime of memories but you’re investing in an outstanding person.
We booked James a few years ago and since then it has been a pleasure to see his work win awards over the years in the build to our wedding and we can see why. His passion and professionalism shines through. We met James for the first time on our wedding day and it felt like we had known him for years. He mingled so well with friends and family, it was just like he was one of the guests. He makes you feel so at ease, comfortable and relaxed. We’re ones for candid photos and James nailed it – sometimes you didn’t even notice he was lingering with his camera, and he didn’t half come out with some great shots. He has captured the day perfectly and has allowed to look back on the day with detail and captured all the emotion within the photos – several friends and family have also commented on the quality of them.
We received the album through an extremely professional website.
We will never forget James not only for the person who he is but for the memories he managed to capture.

Captured the vibe and spirit of our day perfectly
James was one of the best choices we made during wedding planning. From the moment we enquired, James really made us feel like he cared about us and our day, making sure to take time to establish what was important to us. On the day he blended in with the rest of the guests and we quickly forgot he was there. The photos capture the entire day and some of the expressions caught on camera are priceless!
