Michael Harrison Photography is a North East wedding photographer specialising in natural, documentary-style photography for couples who want to enjoy their wedding day rather than spend it posing. With a relaxed, unobtrusive approach, Michael captures the genuine moments that make every wedding unique, from the big celebrations to the quiet, in-between moments that often mean the most.

His focus is on telling the story of the day as it naturally unfolds. After taking care of the family group photos and a short, relaxed couple portrait session, Michael blends into the background, allowing couples to spend their time with the people they love while he documents every laugh, hug, happy tear and celebration.

Based in the North East and happy to travel across the UK, Michael is passionate about creating timeless photographs that help couples relive not only how their wedding looked, but how it truly felt.

Michael Harrison Photography is a wedding photographer based in
Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear.

Hi, I'm Michael!

I haven’t always been into photography. For most of my life, I barely picked up a camera. But one year, I took an instant camera on holiday with me and started photographing pretty much anything I thought looked nice. That’s where my love of photography really began.

Around 2014, I started helping my uncle at weddings, mainly assisting with equipment and getting to see what goes on behind the scenes. I never expected it at the time, but those early experiences eventually led me to wedding photography myself, which makes it all feel very full circle!

On your wedding day, I want you to be able to forget about the camera and spend your time with the people you love while I quietly capture everything as it happens, from the little details you’ve put so much thought into to the moments you don’t even realise are happening.

When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll usually find me out hiking or camping, exploring somewhere with my wife, Jess, and our little dog, Leni, or just enjoying a quiet day at home (which is honestly one of my favourite places to be).

I love being outdoors and getting away from everything for a while, and I think that probably explains a lot about why I photograph weddings the way I do. I’d much rather quietly observe what’s happening than constantly step in and direct it.
