That’s exactly what I love to photograph.

I’m Mel, a Bristol wedding photographer with a love for colour, people and weddings with a bit of life about them.

My photography is relaxed, colourful and full of feeling. I want your photos to bring back the atmosphere of the day not just how everything looked, but how it actually felt to be there.

The big laughs. The emotional hugs. Confetti flying everywhere. Drinks in the sunshine. Your friends losing it during the speeches. Kids running around. Wind in veils. Packed dance floors. And all those brilliant little moments happening around you that you didn’t even know were going on.

Your wedding, not a photoshoot

You’ve planned a wedding because you want to spend the day with the people you love — not disappear for hours having photographs taken.

For most of the day, I’ll let things unfold naturally. I’ll blend in, get amongst your guests and capture everything as it happens, without constantly stopping or directing you.

When we do take some time for photos of the two of you, we’ll keep it easy. We might go for a wander, find some great light and spend a little time together away from the madness. I’ll give you gentle direction when you need it, so there’s never any pressure to know how to pose or what to do.

Then it’s back to the party.

Colour, movement and a little bit of chaos

After more than 13 years photographing weddings, I’ve learnt that the photographs people love most aren’t always the perfectly posed ones.

They’re often the ones where something is happening.

Someone laughing so hard they can barely stand up. Champagne going everywhere. Your grandparents on the dance floor. A child escaping from a group photo. Muddy shoes at the end of the night. Your best friend’s face when they see you for the first time.

Real moments. Real people. All the energy of the day.

And while I’m mostly there to document everything naturally, I’m not going to leave you wondering what you’re supposed to do either.

I’ll organise the family photos, give you a bit of direction when it helps and step in when you need me. The rest of the time, you can forget about the camera and enjoy yourselves.

You don’t need a tipi, a field or an actual festival wedding to be my kind of couple.

It’s more about the feeling.

Relaxed rather than formal. Colourful rather than muted. Full of personality rather than following every wedding tradition because you feel like you should.
