Mister Speaker is a wedding DJ and equipment hire service based in East London. A husband and wife team, Sarah and Johnny offer their DJ and equipment hire services across London, the UK, and further afield. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Mister Speaker will provide the highest quality sound for any event, and they are committed to making the dance floor go off. Making sure their couples and their guests have the best night of their lives is incredibly important to them, and they will work closely with you and their team to make it happen.
Services Offered
Mister Speaker offers bespoke packages for each wedding they play, and they understand that every couple has unique needs and preferences. They provide an in-depth initial consultation with your DJ ahead of the day, and the playlist for the event will be carefully curated and based on your tastes and must-plays. Mister Speaker can also use their own intuition and experience to get your crowd moving. In addition to providing DJ services, the company offers audio equipment rental for couples who want to handle the music themselves. Their high-quality industry-standard equipment can also be dry-hired or set up and collected for you if you prefer. Please get in touch with any enquiries.

20 years' experience of DJing and providing sound-systems for bars, clubs, private parties and weddings. Venues and events including: Somerset House, Blenheim Palace, Trinity Buoy Wharf, Boiler room

Can you travel?

Yes, across the UK. We will quote for events worldwide on request

Is there a charge for travelling?

Yes, dependent on the event and location of course. Travel costs will be applied to any quote

What is the length of time of the act?

We will provide audio hire, tech support and DJ services for as long as your event lasts. There is no limit, all requests considered

How much time do you need to prepare for an act?

At least 90 minutes to 2 hours set-up time is usually enough for each event

An hourly rate for DJ services. Dry audio and DJ equipment hire is by the day

Fantastic DJ who is really supportive through the entire process!

John worked with us in the lead up to the wedding to get an idea of what kind of music we would like on the night, putting our mind at ease on any questions we had.

On the day we really couldn't have asked for more, the setup for the PA system we needed for our ceremony was there and set up ready to use (John even sent a video in the lead up to the day showing how to use it and was available if we needed extra help)

Later in the evening John kicked off the party had a great set all night long, we were super impressed by his ability to read the room and keep the crowd on the dance floor all night, we couldn't have asked for more!

Also he is a lovely guy who is really easy to get along with, which is a must have with anyone you're working with in the lead up to the big day.

We would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is looking for a professional DJ for their Wedding or any other event!

Amazing DJ, could not recommend enough!

We had a fantastic experience with John, from booking up until the Wedding day itself. John was responsive, flexible and completely understood the vibes we wanted to achieve.

He made sure the dancefloor was always full, played everything we wanted him to and switched it up at exactly the right times.

A lovely guy and an amazing DJ. If you are in any doubt, don’t hesitate to book!!

Amazing Dj, 100% recommend.

We first saw Johnny at a friends wedding, and having seen him dj first hand knew he'd be a great fit.
Johnny was friendly, really helpful with suggestions and flexible with different ideas we had for the day.
We booked speakers for the reception drinks, wedding breakfast and speeches, plus Dj services for the evening. Johnny moved all the speakers seamlessly throughout the day. We had a walkthrough at the venue 2 weeks before the wedding which he came to and was sure to work out all the power points and best places to situate things.
All things I hadn't even thought about.
Our best man DJ'd for the last hour and Johnny was more than accommodating to make this happen for us.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My favourite line of the night from Johnny was "It's time for a risky one" just before playing Natasha Beddingfield, Unwritten.

I highly recommend Mr Speaker for your wedidng or any other event.

Thanks Johnny -

we booked mister speaker for our wedding in june '25. He put on a great party during the evening, and we had a great time thanks in large part to him.
He was happy to chat through music tastes and ideas in the lead up to the day and play anything and everything we wanted (and leave off everything we didn't want). great value and a definite recommend from us. Thanks man

Best Wedding DJ!

Johnny DJ'd at our wedding in October at The Depot and from the moment we first spoke over email I knew we had made the right choice. From start to finish the music was absolutely on point, exactly what we had asked for, and it really made our evening complete. We’ve had no end of guests tell us since how much they loved the music and the dancefloor being so full was testament to that too. We are so grateful to Johnny and hopefully we can find another occasion to book him again – although hopefully not another wedding 😉

Couldn’t have asked for a better DJ!

Johnny was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Choosing a wedding DJ is a bit of a minefield but he completely understood the vibe of our wedding and played such a great playlist. He was extremely helpful and very responsive to any questions we had and was very collaborative when it came to playing the songs we wanted as well as weaving in bangers of his choosing. All our guests had the best time. We wish he could have played for longer!

Mister Speaker brought the party

We can't thank Johnny enough for DJ'ing our wedding party, he was incredibly professional, friendly and collaborative throughout.

We were really keen to create a combination of music that represented our Scottish & Nigerian backgrounds and Johnny just totally got the brief, with a great knowledge of music and worked with us to curate a brilliant playlist alongside some of his own selections on the day. He was able to read the room really well with something for every one of our guests and it showed with everyone up on their feet dancing all evening!

Mister Speaker helped make our big day incredibly special and was a massive hit with our guests. I would strongly recommend to anyone planning their own event.

More than we could have hoped for!

Johnny and Sarah know how to throw a party! They were a pleasure to work with from the beginning, understanding our music needs and being flexible when we decided to add a band before the set.

The dance floor was full all night, and everyone has said how much fun they had. Johnny even restarted the first song when I’d missed the beginning getting photos so I could dance to the whole thing. My overarching memory is feeling like I was in the best club with the best music, but surrounded by everyone we knew on our wedding day.

Would recommend them 100 times over, and will book them again for any party we have in the future. Thank you both 💖

Excellent Taste in Music & Very Collaborative

Perfect wedding DJ, he seamlessly combined disco classics with more recent music, maintaining a contemporary feel (and definitely not straying into cheesy wedding territory)
We adored his style, but he was really receptive to our suggestions!

John is a joy to work with !

John was a pleasure to work with from start to finish and we can't thank him enough. He provided equipment hire and a full DJ set which our guests LOVED and went above and beyond to offer flexibility and made the whole process so easy for us. It can be a minefield selecting suppliers so we are so grateful John was recommended to us. His price is incredibly reasonable and we felt like we are in the best hands throughout. Not only is he an amazing DJ, he is also the nicest guy who brought an amazing energy to the day.

Brilliant, professional and banger after banger

We hired Mister Speaker for our wedding and couldn’t recommend him highly enough. From the start Jonny was super communicative, building a playlist together, he also worked with the venue to ensure the whole night ran smoothly and was perfect. He arrived with plenty of time, brought all his own equipment including a lights rig, the music sound quality was brilliant and the actual DJing was amazing. All our guests commented on how good the music was! He played all the songs we wanted and mixed in some additional bangers. And a great guy to talk to. Overall super professional, made sure the night was seamless and the music itself was brilliant! 10/10

Friendly, Fun and the BEST DJ!!!

Johnny did an incredible job of playing at our wedding it was so much fun!! He had the dance floor going all night and really tuned into what would work for us and our guests, everyone has been raving about him since! Johnny is friendly, flexible, easy to communicate with and an excellent DJ. We communicated with Sarah before and her communication was excellent and she was super helpful. Thank you both!

Outstanding DJ

We are so happy we booked John to play at our wedding reception. From the initial meeting to the end of the evening, John was fantastic. He gathered ideas for what we like to listen to, but can be trusted to put his own flavour into the set as well as songs we’d normally like.

John was very responsive when speaking and on the day before the wedding he arrived at the venue just to get a gauge of what was going on, luckily he is local to us.

On the day of the wedding he arrived In great time and just did such an amazing job. It was a great to have someone who was attentive of our needs and play such a good set that always had people on the dance floor.

We would highly recommend if you are wanting a Dj, whether it’s for a wedding or another celebration.

Mister Speaker made music magic

Nikki and I only have fantastic things to say about John aka Mister Speaker. He went above and beyond to absolutely nail our wedding entertainment, making it so much fun for ourselves and our guests. John put in an epic shift with perfectly selected mixes during our afternoon drinks reception, evening cocktail hour and late-night party. John was responsive to our requirements, took a consultative approach, was extremely flexible and delivered the goods on the dancefloor. He's also a really nice guy. Thank you John!
