Service was perfect from the start to finish. Irena and her team was incredibly professional and welcoming. Even though our wedding date changed due to family reasons, Irena had no trouble to reschedule our booking and made us feel at ease in very difficult situation. Im very grateful to all the team. Unfortunately don't have the wedding pictures yet, but have few from our tasting back in February. So delicious 😋

Cake Secret was absolutely amazing from the start to finish. Our wedding cake was stunning!! The amount of work went into it omg, just amazing!!! And it tasted delicious. Team was soo helpful and friendly, from the amazing wedding cake tasting until the moment of delivery. Very pleased and definitely recommend!!

Here is a photo of my wedding cake which collapsed after being made by Cake Secret, delivered by Cake Secret, set down at the venue by Cake Secret and stored under the instructions of Cake Secret. After 8 hours it collapsed, slowly melting internally in the reasonable temperatures of 23-24 degrees.

Despite my cake cut being scheduled for 9pm, Cake Secret - liaising with the venue - decided that an 11am delivery was the ideal time. This is despite the fact they were informed the reception wasn't until 8pm. By the way, I was not involved in any of these arrangements.

During the wedding breakfast the cake independently slumped and fell down on its own accord from the same spot it had been sat in since 11am. It was also warm to touch after the collapse - as confirmed by my guests. Prior to the collapse, venue staff said they did not touch the cake and my guests have confirmed they did not either. I think any reasonably minded person could ascertain what happened here... Read on.

Regardless, after looking into the matter (with I can only imagine the strongest investigatory skills), Cake Secret concluded the cake simply must have been tampered with after they had set it down in the same place it sat all day. It's shocking to me that a tale of cake tampering is somehow the more plausible reason for the cake collapsing, to Cake Secret.

Also according to Cake Secret, because it stood for 8 hours, this indicated it was fit for purpose - sound in both composition and structure.

Respectfully, if a cake that is built to last all day (at the very least) is melting internally over 8 hours and people reported it looked slanted, was it really standing at all?

Perhaps, the most damning part of my experience follows. I had asked for a sugar paste covered cake. My wedding guest who kindly patched together the cake ruins (and regularly makes cakes herself) told me the cake was covered in buttercream (see original cake photo & texture). I also sent these photos to other wedding cake makers who observed this looked like buttercream not sugarpaste/fondant. Cake Secret argue that the texture of sugar paste can sometimes look like this. When I raised this with the cake makers I spoke to - they disagreed. I'll let you all make your own minds up, but the difference in opinion is not making much sense to me.

Sadly, I have been offered no compensation for what happened including even a partial refund or future credit. This is presumably due to the unprofessional and frankly offensive narrative that the cake was tampered with, and their T&Cs which exempts them from all liability.

At this point, I'd like to reflect that this is not about the money. I am not in desperate need of £300 but judging by their behaviour, I'm guessing Cake Secret is? It's about a special moment on our wedding day that was taken from us and a supplier that absolutely doesn't appear to grasp the gravity of that.

This brings me onto customer service. I have been stunned by the lack of accountability or lessons learned from this incident. They are adamant the cake was sugar paste not butter cream, and perhaps the world's most fragile excuse, because its never happened to them before with far more complex and larger cakes, it simply couldn't have happened at all.

According to Cake Secret, apparently, its simply unreasonable for cake maker who has been paid to deliver the service of a wedding cake for a wedding reception to fulfil that promise after its delivered into the venue. So, if it falls - it falls 🤷‍♀️ - you won't get any money back (as per their T&Cs ✨️). Based on my experience, you will however receive a fantastic theory of cake tampering (!) as the cause for your cakes demise.

I am grateful to the venue who have removed them as recommended supplier and will not promote them anymore following the events at my wedding.

You're welcome to make up your own mind. Personally, I wouldn't take the risk of using them.

The cake was fantastic, priced perfectly, tasted absolutely delicious! Customer service throughout the whole process, with communication, help and flexibility was brilliant. I would 100 percent recommend using cake secret !

Cake Secret supplied our wedding cake for our steam-punk themed wedding and absolutely nailed it. It was a gorgeous cake and really fit the theme beautifully.

The sponge was delicious - it was very heavy on the buttercream though which was incredibly sweet and sugary (kids loved it though!) but that's my only complaint and probably down to personal preference.

Overall I would recommend this business as a wedding cake supplier.

Cake Secret created such a beautiful masterpiece for our wedding in June 2025.

The cake was simply stunning from the gold intricate work with our initials, the shimmer, colours and the ruffles. And the flowers looked amazing too. We got some beautiful photos and lots of great comments from our guests on the cake.

All the cake flavours - Chocolate hazelnut, lemon elderflower, fruit cake were delicious, particularly the coffee cake which seemed to be the favourite.

It was wonderful to work with Irena throughout the process. She quickly took on board our ideas and were able to use your expertise and transform them into something really beautiful!👏

We also had the tasting box, which was gorgeous and delicious 😋

Irena and her team made our gorgeous wedding cake for our bee-themed wedding. It was so personal and had lots of character. We were delighted with it.

Not only did it look stunning, it also tasted amazing! We went with Biscoff for 2 of the layers and vanilla for the other 2. Both were delicious. It was hard to pick the flavours though coz all the cakes at Cake Secret are scrummy (and I'm not even a cake person!).

In addition to the wedding cake, Irena and her team also made some super cute bee-themed cupcakes for our younger guests.

The team were professional and easy to deal with. They took on board all our requests. The cake was delivered on time and in perfect condition. Whenever I emailed, I got a very quick reply back. Irena was never pushy when it came to us making decisions and was very receptive to our ideas.

I will absolutely use Cake Secret again for any future celebrations or big birthdays! I also recommend going to the shop itself - you won't be disappointed!
