If you’re wedding dress shopping, put Blue & Sixpence on your list!!! I went with my mum and sister and had such a brilliant experience.
The first thing I would say is that the website really doesn’t prepare you for how many dresses there are in the boutique. I couldn’t believe the choice when I walked in. There are rails and rails of beautiful dresses in so many different styles, and the quality of them is incredible. If you have something particular in mind, there’s an extremely high chance you will find it there. You could walk in with almost any idea of what you wanted and Ali would have something for you to try.
And then there are the prices. I genuinely couldn’t believe it, and neither could my mum, considering she very generously paid for mine! I found my dress and it fit almost like it had been made for me, with only the tiniest alterations needed. It is absolutely beautiful, and the discount from its original price was incredible! I'm talking more than 50% off the original price! These are proper designer wedding dresses, and the quality is exactly what you would expect from that, but the prices are nothing like what I expected.
I also needed a really quick turnaround, and Ali is able to accommodate that, which was such a relief. So if you’re shopping on a shorter timescale like I am, don’t assume that means you won’t be able to have the whole wedding dress experience or find something incredible. You absolutely will at Blue & Sixpence.
But what really made the experience was Ali. She is just brilliant. There was no pressure and no feeling of being sold to. She is so down-to-earth and personable that you feel as though you’re shopping with an old friend. She listens to you, she knows her dresses inside out, and you just feel like you’re in really good hands with her.
I had my children with me as well as my mum and sister, and they were completely welcome too. It meant that what could potentially have been quite a stressful shopping trip with children in tow was actually just a really lovely day with my family.
I also really loved finding out more about the idea behind Blue & Sixpence. I hadn’t really thought about how wasteful the wedding dress industry can be before, but so many of the dresses here are designer samples that are already sitting there waiting to be worn. They even help brides resell their dresses afterwards, which I think is such a lovely idea. It just made me feel even better about buying mine there, knowing that there’s a much more sustainable side to what they’re doing too.
And after we’d bought the dress, there was one final little touch that I thought was so special. Ali gives each bride a little postcard with a sixpence and a blue ribbon attached. It’s such a small thing, but it was incredibly thoughtful and just summed up how personal the whole experience had been.
I came away with my dress, but also having had a brilliant day with my family. If you’re considering Blue & Sixpence, go. The choice is far bigger than you can appreciate online, the dresses are beautiful, the value for money is incredible and Ali will treat you like a person, not another appointment in the diary. You really are in such good hands with her. I couldn’t recommend Blue & Sixpence enough.Blue & Sixpence Bridal's reply:

Ali was so lovely to work with. She has a huge selection of dresses for every need. I tried on so many different types, and finally picked my dress. The afternoon in her studio was relaxing and stress free. She had treats set out for us and we had the whole place to ourselves. These dresses were all at great and affordable prices! Phenomenal experience
This shop was absolutely stunning with beautiful dresses. Ali made me and my mum feel a million dollars
The mother and daughter wedding dress experience was just an amazing memory ill never forget and hold close to my heart ❤️
We tried on numerous beautiful dress but nothing came close to the one my mum loved 😍 and this made us both cry 😢 which was so very special

First experience of bridal shopping
really couldn’t have asked for more! No big sales pitch, no ‘o my you need to get a dress quickly ‘ honesty which is what every bride needs an appreciation of what I was looking for and guided me the right way. Definately 'Yes to the dress!'
I'd heard brilliant feedback from friends who had visited Ali when her business was based in Garston, Liverpool. I booked an appointment online, which was easy to do, and entered details of what style of dress I was looking for. Travelled from Liverpool to Ormskirk with my friend. Business was easy to find. Ali was friendly & welcoming. The was a great selection of dresses in different styles, colours & most importantly sizes (as im a curvy Bride to Be). All of the dresses were clearly priced and sorted into sizes on the rails. There was also a great selection of accessories to compliment the dresses. We told Ali my budget and me, my friend & Ali picked out some dresses to try on. The changing room was air conditioned (which was lovely for trying on dresses). Ali took her time to put each dress on me and then we showed my friend for her opinion. Ali gave her honest & professional advice about each dress i tried on. The appointment was relaxed and i didnt feel rushed. At no point did I feel pressurised to make a purchase on the day. I would highly recommend Ali and her business......and yes, i said 'Yes to the Dress!' and I cant wait to wear it in October this year!
