Terrible experience
I booked Amy to do my bride makeup at the beginning of April 2023, for our late April 2024 wedding. 10 days before the wedding, Amy emailed to confirm that she’d received my full payment, and a couple of hours later emailed again to cancel due to personal reasons.
As she could no longer do my wedding makeup, she sent me in the direction of her other company ‘The I Do’ (Also known as Cotswold beauty), where she said someone else was available and could do my makeup. No further detail was given and after a couple of chaser emails, Amy gave me this artists phone number.
Amy then proceeded to go abroad on holiday, posting pictures on instagram and saying that she was out of office and would not be replying to emails, meaning that I had to take it on myself to try and book in a makeup trial and arrange the new artist.
The experience I had with ‘The I Do’ and her recommended artist was incredibly poor. I could write an essay about what happened and how unprofessional it was but I will only write here a brief summary.
- The only trial the girl could do was 5 days before the wedding. A couple of hours before the trial she cancelled.
- I tried to rebook for a date she said she could do. By the time I replied (30 minutes later), she said that she’d taken on another booking.
- She and Amy tried to charge me for the artist to come to my house for the trial (at this point it is a few days before the wedding), despite all of the cancellations being on their end.
After a lot of upset and stress, I was forced to look elsewhere for makeup. I explained my dissatisfaction to both Amy and her artist, and both girls completely blamed each other for the situation. The artist said she wouldn’t be working with ‘The I Do’ again due to how poorly Amy had handled the situation.
It also didn’t go unnoticed that Amy did a wedding the day after mine, proceeding to post it on Instagram.
Whilst Amy may be good at marketing on Instagram, the way she treated me and the upset that was caused in the run up to my wedding was terrible. If you’d like a reliable, trustworthy and professional service then I would not recommend Amy Rose Makeup or ‘The I Do’ (Cotswold Beauty).

Thank you for your review.
Unfortunately I had to cancel you wedding due to my son having a hospital procedure for an ongoing medical condition. Although I completely appreciate how stressful this is, as soon as I was aware of the procedure date I found you a replacement and also offered to cover the additional £160 difference in the booking price out of my own pocket. I passed over your details to the artist and hers to yours, you said you would contact her to arrange your trial as you had limited availability.
Whilst I was away on holiday (this was pre-booked and a trip for my sons 5th birthday). I received an invoice from your artist for an additional £180.
Unsure what this was I asked the artist and she said you were unable to travel to he for a trial and she was now traveling to you, and that was the travel fee.
She said that you had informed her that I would cover this.
As this is not something I had agreed to, and I was already paying £160 personally towards your make up.
You then informed me that this was due to the artist cancelling a trial (however this was the first you had informed me of this), but the artist was adamant it was because you had no availability.
I asked if you could come to a solution between your selves, however you then decided to cancel the booking with the artist.
All artists are independent and I honestly thought I was doing the best thing by finding you a solution, rather than cancelling.
I really honestly couldn't have done anymore to try and help resolve the situation, and feel like I was actually being taken advantage of my situation hoping that I would just pay the £340 out of my own pocket with out queuing it as you threatened to leave a bad review.
I am also aware that you cancelled your original hair stylist shortly prior to your wedding day and this left them with a hole in there diary.
I really do hope you had a wonderful wedding day, but I honestly don't think I could have done anymore to help you in this situation.
