Mat and I had our Summer wedding at Hamswell house on Saturday 27th July and Sunday 28th July and it was the best decision we made.
From the very first time we saw Hamswell house, we were blown away by how beautiful the house and grounds are and the incredible views of the countryside. It was the perfect place for us to have an outdoor summer wedding where we could get married, surrounded by nature with our nearest and dearest!
On our wedding day, Hamswell house looked pristine. In the evening the lanterns looked stunning and the little touches they did didn’t go unnoticed. From the get go, we had guests complimenting the venue and the different areas we could explore as the wedding day went on- from the entrance walk to the beautiful house, to the ceremony under the lime tree, to the orangery confetti shot, the reception drinks with breathtaking views and the beautiful marquee setup, there was a lot of variety and this kept our guests guessing! We even had a very special golden hour photoshoot in the field above the house.
Rupert, the owner was very friendly and helpful, always answering emails efficiently and providing recommendations. It was great to have such accommodating hosts as our allies for our big day. From the beginning, you were so welcoming.
We were made to feel very welcome on the Sunday, when we all returned for a relaxed Sunday buffet which turned into fun games on the lawn afterwards.
We cannot recommend Hamswell house highly enough for a wedding! It was the best weekend of our lives and a lot of our guests said it was the best wedding they have been to as well.
Thank you so much Rupert and Hamswell House for such fond memories. I am sure we will return for a little wander in the future, to walk down memory lane! -

We had our perfect day at Hamswell House on the 9th August 2025.
We initially enquired in May 2024 and met with Tessa, who gave us the warmest greeting and couldn't be more helpful in telling us all the options available to us, and giving us a very thorough tour of the beautiful Hamswell House grounds.
We left that day confident that we had found the one, whilst we did head to another couple of venues from there we knew our heart was set on Hamswell, so we arranged a second meeting and booked our day. Hamswell House offer recommendations for vendors being a dry hire venue, I'd specifically recommend Epic Catering who were nothing short of perfect. We've been to many of weddings where the food has been a bit samey, but let me assure you every single one of our guests couldn't stop speaking about how amazing the food was, and we felt the same! A great thing about Hamswell House is the 0 corkage for your own alcohol, so for our cocktail hour and wedding reception we provided all of the alcohol which was looked after for us.
Rupert (owner) was also very responsive, and helpful with any queries that we had, of which there were many especially during the buildup.
We were allowed to come and set up the day before which was very helpful, with the marquee all ready (provided by Henry at Bath Marquees, again, excellent). The day itself was nothing short of perfect, the weather was great, Hamswell was presented in all it's glory and our guests had the best time as did we. It's the perfect location for a wedding that feels like you're abroad with the fantastic views, with that classic rustic British feel.
A truly excellent day that we'll cherish forever!! -

Absolute dream location, there’s honestly no better place to get married than Hamswell House! The grounds are gorgeous, everything went so smoothly, and the whole experience felt seamless. Rupert was wonderful and provided a great list of recommended vendors! It couldn’t have been a more perfect day! -

Hamswell House was the perfect setting for our wedding this May. After getting married under the lime tree, our guests were able to enjoy the beautifully maintained gardens and stunning views before moving into the marquee, and the venue really helped the day to flow nicely. Rupert was helpful and responsive throughout, providing helpful guidance. We would thoroughly recommend Hamswell House as a truly special wedding venue. -

We had the wedding of our dreams at Hamswell House. It was the first venue we toured and we fell completely in love. Rupert was communicative and welcoming, and made it easy to know it was the venue for us. The house and grounds allows for wonderful flow from the ceremony on the front lawn, to cocktail hour on the patio and gardens, and reception in the marquee. The backdrop and grounds also mean you have so much natural beauty to work with. All of our guests could not believe the view and told us it felt like a movie. -

We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of wedding venue. We fell in love with Hamswell, not just for its beauty, but for its charm - it’s rich in romance and history, from its ancient lime tree to its whimsical wisteria. The grounds and garden are exquisitely beautiful, like something out of fairy tale, with a wonderfully relaxed natural flow. Rupert and his team were most helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process, recommending fantastic suppliers along the way. Tessa was an absolute star on our big day, helping to ensure everything ran smoothly and bringing even more warmth and positivity to the day. We will be eternally grateful to Rupert and his team. Toby and I got married at Hamswell House on 3rd August this year, it was honestly the most perfect venue and we couldn't have wished for a better day. All of our guests were blown away and it was so special. Rupert was so easy to deal with, answered any questions that we had and was always around should we need him. I loved that not many people knew the venue (it isn't like the other commercial venues you find) and that is why we loved it. We had so much flexibility, everything from the recommended caterers to the marquee company were fantastic. I want to do it all over again!!! -
