A WEDDING IN SICILY THAT LASTS LONGER THAN A DAY
A few kilometres from Noto, the road slowly gives way to the countryside. Here, among the hills of South-East Sicily and overlooking an open valley, lies Mat Museo. This venue is a cultural and experiential place where contemporary art, nature and traces of Sicily's past come together. The experience extends beyond the gallery into the surrounding landscape and ancient rock-cut spaces that preserve the memory of the place. For couples travelling to Sicily, a wedding at Mat Museo (MAT) does not have to begin and end on the wedding day. It can become a longer experience shared with the people they love, with food, wine, art and local traditions woven into the days surrounding the celebration. Some moments are simply about being together. Others invite guests to discover, taste or create something that may even become part of the wedding itself. There is no fixed programme: each experience is shaped around the couple and the way they want to spend their time in Sicily.
Facilities and Capacity
Among the trees, the canopy of a century-old carob tree can become the setting for the ceremony, surrounded by the Sicilian countryside. MAT is officially authorised for legally recognised civil ceremonies, and the team can support international couples in liaising with the Municipality of Noto throughout the local process. The outdoor spaces are at the heart of celebrations during the warmer months and are particularly suited to larger gatherings. Different areas of MAT can become the setting for the ceremony, aperitivo, dinner, music and dancing, allowing the wedding to move naturally through the property as the day unfolds. For more intimate celebrations, the contemporary art gallery offers an indoor setting for around 40 seated guests. Art is already part of MAT. Much of its artistic identity has been shaped by Nicola Indaco, principal artist of the gallery, landscape architect and floral designer. For weddings, his artistic language can extend into bespoke floral and botanical compositions created specifically for the couple and the setting. Two apartments within the property allow the couple and some of their closest family or friends to stay at MAT, with the couple's first wedding night complimentary.
Services Offered
Every wedding at MAT begins with a conversation. The team works with each couple to shape not only the wedding day, but also the time surrounding it. Pre- and post-wedding experiences can become part of the celebration, drawing on Sicily's food, wine, art, nature and local traditions. For couples planning their wedding from abroad, the MAT team can also provide local support with guest accommodation, transportation and other practical aspects of their stay in Sicily, drawing on its knowledge of the area and network of trusted local partners. The result can be a single celebration or several days spent together in Sicily.

From trusted local suppliers and accommodation to personalised experiences, I love creating celebrations that reflect each couple while giving them and their guests the opportunity to truly experience Sicily.
At MAT, I take care of our visual identity, social media and digital communication, sharing the stories, people and experiences that make this place special. I’m Nicola Indaco, an artist, landscape architect and floral designer. As the principal artist at MAT, my work is already part of the spaces and landscape that surround every celebration. For weddings, I bring this artistic vision to life through bespoke floral installations and botanical compositions, working closely with each couple to create something personal, inspired by nature and connected to the character of MAT.
