Built in 1714 and retaining the grandeur of the period whilst having a very charming feel, Bedfordshire's Hinwick House will appeal to those wishing to hold their wedding reception somewhere impressive and truly inviting.
The Queen Anne part of the house benefits from elegant, bright formal rooms which link together around a gorgeous, dramatic central staircase. These rooms work well for weddings of up to 80 guests when used for ceremonies or drinks receptions in conjunction with the striking Great Hall that seats up to 80 for a wedding breakfast.
The Great Hall is a truly stunning space in the Victorian wing of the house featuring bare stonework and high ceilings with exposed beams. Adjacent to the Great Hall is an impressive Lounge Bar with double height ceilings that can be used by your guests in addition to the Great Hall. The Hall provides the perfect area for up to 80 guests to be seated for dining. Alternatively it can be used as a dance area in conjunction with a marquee which can be linked directly to the Great Hall in the private courtyard area. The Great Hall can also be used for ceremonies for up to 90 guests.
For larger weddings and receptions, we invite you to hire a marquee and position it in the parkland with the uplit Queen Anne house providing a wonderful and incredibly romantic backdrop.
Complementing this privately-owned house are beautiful gardens, a lake, a charming clock tower with balcony as well as other historic outbuildings, all of which provide endless photographic opportunities.
If you wish to make a weekend of it and stay in the house the night before and/or the night after your wedding; Hinwick House can accommodate up to 36 (+8) guests in luxury bedrooms and suites in the main house and 2 cottages in the grounds.
Hinwick House is offered as a 'dry hire', which allows our guests or their wedding planners to create a truly bespoke experience. We have a list of suppliers that we recommend such as marquee hire, caterers and drinks hire. We have a no corkage policy currently.
