Historical notes

It is known, from literary sources, that many artists worked in the castle, in particular the disciples of Giulio Romano, a sixteenth-century painter, and members of the Zuccari movement.

What is now a wedding venue has been a source of inspiration for the works of not only Italian but also foreign painters, including Claude Lorrain, Nicolas Poussin and Jean Baptiste Corot: a place and a building rich in history.

In fact, the castle was built on commission from a marquis at the beginning of the first century and was subsequently enlarged at the behest of the family, who had acquired ownership of the entire territory.
