  • "The words were perfect"
Sarah Bell on 23 July 2018

Have just returned from honeymoon and wanted to just pass on my thanks to you for shaping the words for my wedding promises and speech. They were perfect and fitted in wonderfully with my husbands’ words as well. Many people commented as to how unique they were. So thankyou again for helping make the day so special, and for being so quick and efficient in getting them done for me. If there is anywhere I can post comments/recommendations for you then please let me know, I would be more than happy to do so. Thanks again Sarah Bell

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a speech cost?

There is no charge for an initial assessment of your speech, so you’ve got nothing to lose by getting in touch. After that the cost will vary depending on how much help you need from me, but to give you an idea, writing a speech from scratch typically comes in at around £200. For that price I’ll take your anecdotes and thankyous and turn them from a pile of notes into a well-structured speech. If you’re just after a few tweaks to a speech you’ve already written then that will cost you less.

How does it work?

Simply send me your material and I’ll do the rest. If you don’t know where to begin I’ll send you a survey to get you started, at no cost. Once I’ve got your material I’ll be able to give you a price for the job, and if you agree I’ll get started. Then I’ll send you your speech and we can amend it until it’s exactly as you want it.

How far in advance should I contact you?

I’d recommend that you get in touch at least a month before the big day, then you’ll have plenty of time to practice the speech when I’ve written and returned it.

How long will it take you to write my speech?

I’ll aim to have it done within a week of you sending me your raw material. If you’ve left it until the very last minute and you’re panicking I can come to the rescue with just a couple of days’ notice, but that’ll cost you more as it’ll involve rearranging my schedule.

I’m not used to public speaking; can you help me with my nerves?

I can’t promise to eliminate your nerves completely as they’re a natural response to being out of your comfort zone – you wouldn’t be human if you weren’t a bit nervous. However, I have plenty of practical tips for dealing with the nerves and delivering your speech with style, and I’ll be on hand to guide you through your preparations if you need me to. The best thing I can do is provide you with a great speech that you can have total confidence in; just knowing your speech been put together by an experienced professional should go a long way to helping you relax.

Why should I spend money on a speechwriter?

A good speech is difficult to write. Speechwriting is a skilled task, like all the other things you’re paying for to make your day perfect. You wouldn’t think twice about hiring a professional photographer or flower arranger for your wedding, so why wouldn’t you pay a professional to help with the bit of the day that you’re probably most nervous about (which may well be why you’ve clicked on this page)? It’s not cheating, they’re still your words and your feelings, you’ll just be employing an expert to mould them into the perfect speech. So make your life easy, stop worrying and let me take care of it for you.

What makes your speeches so special?

They’re completely unique. I never scour the internet for material, and I wouldn’t advise you to either – everyone’s done that and your guests will have heard all the jokes before. I use just your words and your stories as the inspiration for your speech, and I’ll weave them together so that they flow and so that you get to say everything you want to say. I’ll work with you to find the right tone, and I’ll write your speech in the way that you would say it; the whole point is that it sounds like a speech you wrote yourself.
