06 Jun, 2026Our Real Wedding
We got married at Woburn Safari Lodge, Woburn Safari Park, on 06/06/2026!
We got engagement on our 10-year anniversary after being childhood sweethearts and booked for June 2026! We had 18 months of planning and DIY, which all came together beautifully. I had butter yellow bridesmaids dresses from the wonderful Six Stories, my all-time favourite colour and very much the colour of the season! We wanted a relaxed, fun and whimsical décor that helped show the beauty of our venue rather than overshadow. The lodge is straight out of a safari, but modern and bright. We had a DIY floral arch of wildflowers as well as matching bouquets and bud vases to match. We also had a memory table filled with photos, scrapbooks, and trinkets from our decade of being together, a true reflection of our journey. Our table names were countries we had travelled to together, with personalised luggage tags as the favours for guests.
My dress was something so special, it was a 2-in-1 dress. A classic, plain but timeless a line dress with a detachable skirt to reveal a fun short dress with flower detail. I truly felt beautiful and very comfortable, especially after changing into my wedding platform crocs!

With the Venue being a zoo, guests enjoyed the animals, and after the ceremony, we went to feed the giraffes! This was truly the absolute highlight of the day, we were in awe and couldn't believe we were doing something so special. After a VIP off-road Jeep tour with close encounters with Rhinos, Lions and Bears, we had group photos with all our important people.
The wedding breakfast was relaxed and chatty, with speeches from me (untraditionally) and the groom, again adding those personable touches.
We then partied the night away after a first dance with confetti, my outfit change, followed by glow sticks and sunglasses! As well as stickers of our dog and temp tattoos of the bride and groom!
Then one of our favourite purchases, the photo booth! This went down as an absolute treat with guests and was used the full 3 hours, as well as coming with a guest book now filled with amazing photos and messages from our guests. It was such a great time
overall, our day was so personal, filled with love and laughter, and very unique from a traditional wedding! But it just felt like us, the suppliers we worked with and found on Hitched, worked perfectly with the vibe of the day, and it seems like they had a great time at the zoo as we did!
