05 Sep, 2026Our Real Wedding
So, we started on Friday the 4th - we got to the venue (Oak Tree Farm) with a million bags and boxes! We unloaded and got to work. We decorated and set up tables and chairs. Honestly, it was so fun, the wedding party were there to help, and it was so relaxed getting to speak to everyone before the pressure of the big day.
In the evening, Cliff, Jemma & their daughter made a beautiful dinner for us, we had some drinks, and one of the bridesmen did a speech, perfect for a more intimate night-before rehearsal dinner! Then it was time for the fire pit and relax before bedtime, some of the guys stayed up until gone 2 am chatting around the fire and reminiscing!
Personally, I needed my beauty sleep and dipped out early to soak in the massive hot tub with my soon-to-be-husband, followed by resting in the beautifully furnished glamping tent. Yes please!
The next morning I had a criminally early start (6am!) the MUA dfc_touch was on time to the minute (kinda hoped she'd be a bit late haha!), we met and found somewhere for her to setup in the house. Once she was situated she got to work right away! Omg she did such a good job, I was worried the girls were going to be difficult but she took it in her stride and did such an amazing job! I had two trials with her before the wedding day and I'm so glad I did, my makeup held up perfectly!
Continue reading »The photographer was a little late due to a traffic collision but he got to us asap and began right away. He made us feel comfortable and at ease, it was so easy to ignore him taking photos of us, we have so many beautiful candid pictures, I love them!
Then it was time for the ceremony, Ronnie the celebrant met us before we did our walk and she was fantastic, we had such good communication from her (we were awful at responding) the whole way through the process - she checked every change she made with us & on the day, as I was about to make the longest walk of my life so far, she told me not to sweat it.
This is where one of my favourite moments of the day happened, my mum walked me down the aisle, something we were worried we'd never make happen.
By the time I got 2 steps down the aisle, I could see Rob crying... phew, I wouldn't have to turn around and try again. As I got closer, I couldn't help but smile, part of me wanted to run down the aisle and I might have if I didn't think I'd have fallen flat on my face! Ronnie began the ceremony and it wasn't long before everyone was crying their eyes out. Low-key exactly what we had hoped for. It's not just my make-up getting ruined, not today! By the time we'd finished, I don't think there was a dry eye & we'd tied the knot! Literally! We did the group photos and as we finished up, everyone got to disappear and get themselves drinks whilst Rob and I stayed behind and had 20 minutes to ourselves, taking some beautiful pictures and enjoying the quiet! Then it was time for food!
Oh my days the food was beautiful, I still couldn't eat much because whilst the nerves had settled, my corset was still restricting my breathing - it didn't stop me though, nothing was getting between me and those nudja potatoes. We had nothing but glowing reviews from every guest about the food, it was gorgeous! The service was fantastic!
Then, alpacas & axe throwing. The whole time Cliff & his family had been helping and assisting and wow, they were phenomenal. The axe throwing was such a unique experience, our guests loved it. Same for the alpacas, they were so soft and so cute! The kids were obsessed with feeding them and tbh, so were some of the adults.
At this point, I'm not even sure where the day has gone but we've gotten ready, married, eaten lunch, thrown axes, fed alpacas, cut the cake, listened to the best man speech & now it's time for our first dance. What a whirlwind day! It's finally time to party! We had our first dance to Stargazing by Miles Smith, we tried to dance a practiced dance but unfortunately I've got dyspraxia and it's a miracle I could even walk in my dress! In the end we went with the swaying side to side and invited everyone else to join us, Rob got to dance with his mum and sister and I danced with his dad! Then the rest of the night is a bit of a blur but I didn't get back to the tent until about 4am! What an amazing day, it's exactly as we hoped!
The morning after, those of us who glamped met up at the stretch tent, we started packing away our decorations and Cliff & Jemma cooked us the best breakfast I've ever had (might have been because we drank the bar out of jager the previous night but I choose to believe it's because it really was that good) - they were in absolutely no rush to get us packed off and away and we were so grateful, some of us were a little more delicate than others but we have absolutely zero regrets.
I cannot stress how beautiful the venue is and how amazing it was to spend all weekend with the people we love the most.
