Marcus and Nova's Wedding in London - East, East London
Countryside Spring Black and white
M&N
18 Jun, 2025Our Real Wedding
If you had told me a few years ago that my wedding day would unfold inside a historic riverside warehouse rather than a traditional countryside manor, I probably would have smiled and agreed. My name is Nova, after all, and I’ve always believed that life’s best moments happen a little off the beaten path.
When it came to choosing a location, we wanted more than just a beautiful backdrop; we wanted a place with energy, history, and a soul. We found all of that, and more, in East London.
Our venue was Trinity Buoy Wharf, a stunning patch of history perched right on the edge of the River Thames, home to London’s only lighthouse. With its weathered brickwork, soaring iron beams, and panoramic views of the water, the space possessed a raw, industrial romance that felt entirely true to who we are.
I still get goosebumps thinking about the ceremony. We stood hand-in-hand against a wall of exposed brick, illuminated by the soft, amber glow of hanging Edison bulbs and flickering candlelight. The bustling energy of the city outside seemed to melt away into a quiet hum. During the service, our celebrant shared a thought that stayed with me:

Looking out at the smiling faces of our closest friends and family, laughing and wiping away tears through our vows, I knew we were exactly where we were meant to be.
Instead of a stiff, formal dinner, we wanted the evening to feel like an intimate celebration of our journey. We treated our guests to a relaxed, festival-style reception featuring local East End street food and craft beers. A vinyl DJ spun a timeless mix of soul and indie classics, keeping the dance floor alive and electric.
But my absolute favourite memory occurred near the end of the night.
Stepping away from the music and laughter, my new husband and I snuck out onto the quiet pier for a breath of fresh air. A gentle breeze was coming off the Thames, and the London skyline was glittering across the dark water. As he looped his suit jacket over my shoulders to shield me from the chill, he pulled me close and asked, "Are you taking it all in?"
Standing there, wrapped in his warmth with the historic lighthouse behind us, I realised our wedding wasn't just a beautiful event. It was a reflection of our commitment—grounded, slightly unconventional, and deeply personal.
To everyone who travelled from near and far to share this day with us: thank you. Our hearts are incredibly full, and this beautiful new chapter is just beginning.
