Graeme and Georgina 's Wedding in Dundee, Fife & Angus
Elegant Autumn Blue
G&G
18 Oct, 2025Our Real Wedding
Venue: Taypark House led by Mona. We had the whole venue and comfortably fit our 71 guests. Everything was included, with no hidden fees. The Taypark has rooms so some of our guests could stay the night before and the night of the wedding. We're based in Edinburgh and the Taypark is in Dundee, we had plenty of opportunities to meet Mona in person but the majority of the arrangements were made via email which was incredibly helpful. Mona coordinated everything on the day, from making sure the right music was played to setting up the tables exactly how I'd envisioned. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Ceremony: Maureen Gilchrist, City Registrar came to the venue and did a beautiful ceremony with us. We were able to choose what wording was used for the vows and promises and even incorporated a quaich with tequila. We were appointed Maureen by the Dundee City Council and she bust a few myths about how flexible a Registrar could be. Our ceremony so personal and emotional for us, completely perfect and she took care of all the paperwork and legalities so we didn't have to worry about that! Photographer: White Rose Photography Wayne was absolutely brilliant. We managed everything in the leadup through calls and messenger. On the day itself Wayne was early and quickly got stuck into meeting the bridal party and keeping us all entertained. I've lost count of the amount of guests who've told me that Wayne was going above and beyond even when my husband and I were elsewhere. Wayne listened to what we wanted and absolutely delivered. From making sure we were all staged beautifully to getting lots of photos with our guests. We did a first look which meant we got the majority of family photos done pre ceremony and only needed 15 minutes away from our guests during the drinks reception (thank you!!!) We got 15 images the same day and we're so excited to see the rest! Hair: Hair By Terri Young did the bridal party hair. I had my trials with Terri a few months in advance and she nailed it from the get go. Terri curled my hair and did beautiful braids and looser curls on the bridesmaids. Terri was there early so everything felt relaxed whilst we were getting ready, exactly what we needed! Makeup: Hana Wilson MUA got us (soft) glammed up, working in tandem with Terri to keep the morning flowing and on time. Again very chilled out and relaxed , I left the chair feeling beautiful and ready to go! The trial was a great way to test out how bold I wanted to go, and Hana gradually built up the colour to make sure we got it perfect on the day! Florist: Nikkis fleurs based in Edinburgh did our bridal party flowers and signing table arrangement. We got one of their wedding packages which included he bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 5 buttonholes, two ladies lapels, a 12" table arrangement and two bouquets for the mums. We were able to collect them the day before and take them through to Dundee, they were well packaged for transporting and looked stunning on the Saturday. Dress: Bought from Ivy Lane Bridal (no longer trading) my Morilee Flavia dress was absolutely stunning. I had some small alterations made to it to make sure I felt comfortable on the day. LaMode Design Studios Penny did a brilliant job taking the dress in and adding some additional lace panels, it looked like it was always part of the dress. I went to see Penny four times in the lead up to the wedding for various measurements and fittings and communication and payment were super straightforward. Kilts: The gents got their kilts from McCalls of Dundee, they were able to do the groomsmen kilts in Stewart Grey to match the father of the grooms own kilt. The navy jackets and burgundy ties looked brilliant and tied in beautifully with the dark navy bridesmaid dresses. Piper: PiperDan did an incredible job welcoming our guests to the venue. He looked amazing and sounded fantastic. It was the perfect way to kick off the day, particularly for our friends who were experiencing their first Scottish wedding! Drinks reception entertainment: Fabulous Fun Casinos, Lance organised everything so when we came out of the ceremony the tables were ready to go and very popular with our guests. They offered a prize and some very convincing fake money to "gamble" at the blackjack and roulette tableswww.fabulousfuncasino.comBand: The Rockettes booked through music for Scotland had everyone on the dancefloor all night! We did a couple of ceilidh songs but they were so good the dancefloor was almost too full! They learned our first dance, Your Song by Elton John and even did a version of Flo Rida Low (my favourite song to request on a night out) which absolutely made my night. They had a brilliant range of songs and we were able to give them a short list of must play tracks. This band is absolutely incredible and often play gigs around Edinburgh so you can hear them in person. https://www.musicforscotland.co.uk/wedding-bands/rockettesCake: our cake, which we later added cake toppers to (faux florals and a wooden sign with our married title on it) was from Mimi's bakehouse in Leith who also provided the brownie prize for our first dance sweepstake!
