27 Sep, 2025Our Real Wedding
Despite waking up with a runny nose, and making an emergency call to my future mother-in-law for supplies, the day couldn’t have gone more perfectly. Set against the stunning backdrop of Hogarths Stone Manor, we were given the cosy yet spacious Snug to get ready together. Surrounded by my bridesmaids, laughter and excitement filled the room as we had our makeup done.
Once all eight of my bridesmaids were ready, our wedding coordinator led us toward the Drawing Room. Emotions were already running high. I had to stop myself from crying when one of my closest friends and bridesmaids burst into tears before we’d even stepped inside.
My dad, looking dapper as ever, walked me down the aisle with my beautiful dog, Lola, trotting proudly beside us with flowers around her neck. The sight of my future husband waiting at the end of the aisle brought the biggest smile to my face. With his clean-shaven look, fresh haircut, and that heart-melting smile, I felt so lucky as our eyes met.

Our vows were filled with joy (and a few giggles), thanks to Lola’s enthusiastic snorts as she tried to reach Craig and me, which had everyone laughing.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a drinks reception and slices of wedding cake served canapé-style, a little idea I’d borrowed from Hitched, which turned out to be a huge hit. Then it was off into the gorgeous grounds of Hogarths with our photographer to capture those all-important photos.
As the wedding breakfast began in the beautiful Garden Room, I was bursting with anticipation for the surprise I’d secretly planned. No one else knew what was coming. When a waitress dramatically “tripped” with her ice bucket, gasps filled the room as guests rushed to help, only for her to suddenly burst into song! The shock and delight on everyone’s faces was exactly what I’d hoped for. Our singing waitress had everyone waving napkins, clapping, and up on their feet dancing before the mains had even finished.
After dinner, the room was transformed ready for the evening celebrations. Guests arrived to music and laughter, and at 8pm we cut our cake before sharing our first dance together. Dancing with my husband, surrounded by soft lighting and the sound of James Arthur, was a truly magical moment.
Then came the second surprise of the day, a saxophone player bringing 90s dance classics to life. The energy was incredible, and the DJ kept it going all night, playing almost every request. I spent most of the evening on the dance floor, determined to look graceful in my big dress while avoiding tripping over my train!
As the night drew to a close, we said our goodbyes. Some guests headed for the late bar, others to their beautiful rooms. And as for us… well, I’ll leave that part to your imagination.
