A letter from our close friends: “Dear Adrian and Yvette, first of all our heartfelt thanks for including us in the spectacular celebration of your most special of days. I have been to many, many weddings and have never seen such a glorious sequence of events and such a mixture of playfulness and quiet serenity as you exchanged your vows. Hard to single out a moment that was particularly moving. I tend to weep at the drop of a hat anyway and so your beautiful entrance with Roxannne, the lovely readings, the cute owl all competed to be the most tearjerking and we haven’t even got as far as the first kiss! The rest of the day was effortlessly managed by your clever and stylish team. The canapes were delicious and the generous wedding breakfast efficiently and swiftly served. Loved that little trio of puddings too and I don’t usually eat dessert ! I was a little nervous about Bark’s speech but felt he did you proud so was ready to party by the time the meal was over. But first, a special mention to that wonderful song Roxanne addressed to you Yvette [more tears…and I wasn’t the only one!] The rest of the day sped by and we so enjoyed chatting with people I had never met before. And then there was the dancing ! I don’t consider myself much of a mover but the vibe was right and the music excellent. I also have a lovely little collection here of all the delightful favours to be found on every seat and every table.”And the reply from Adrian: “What a truly lovely message – thank you so much for your kind words. We are so touched that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. We couldn’t have wished for better weather. All that manifesting by Yvette paid off. It felt as though the gods themselves were smiling down on us. Reading your reflections brings the whole celebration flooding back for us. It was hard for us to keep a lid on the tears and judging by the many tear streaked faces around us equally hard for everyone else too. As soon as I laid eyes on Yvette, floating across the grass like a goddess dressed in white, I was gone. In the end, I don’t know who shed more tears, me or Yvette. (I don’t want to make this a competition - Yvette usually cries more than me but I think on this occasion I might just have beaten her! ).We’re delighted you found the ceremony moving – Roxanne’s song, the owl, the readings, the laughter. I think Roxanne’s song caught everyone by surprise including ourselves. She carried the whole thing off beautifully. We had no idea it was coming and I think putting your own stamp on a song is very hard thing to do but she absolutely nailed it. I think it brought a lump to everyone’s throat - ‘Our Song’ is such a beautiful song in the first place but to cleverly interweave it with thoughts and reflections about what it means to be a mother and a daughter and make it more emotional than the original takes real genius. I am welling up now just thinking about it. The song, the dancing, speeches, these are all moments we’ll cherish forever. We are so glad you enjoyed the food, the music, and all the little touches, but in the end it’s the people that make a wedding truly special – and having you both there meant the world to us. I think Bark’s speech was just perfect. It managed to be both playful, serious, and humorous - it struck all the right notes. It was one of those speeches that felt effortless, yet left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. So many people came up to me afterwards to say what a wonderful speech he’d made - a true testament to how much it touched everyone who heard it. The observation about how a birder can stop mid sentence to point out a passing sparrowhawk whilst in a very serious conversation with his beloved struck a real chord with all the other birders in the room. We will soon be off to make new memories on our honeymoon, but as you rightly said, the wedding will be a hard act to follow! It was indeed the best wedding ever. We are both still on Cloud 9 and have hardly slept since Saturday, the memories just drift through our minds over and over again. Can we do it all over again next weekend, please? Honestly, we would if we could. Thank you once again for being a big part of our wedding and making it so special.“
