09 Aug, 2025Our Real Wedding
We made sure that the night before the wedding we had an early night , we were told by the celebrant that it helps to keep high emotions the next day at bay - It was a good move. We didn’t go for the superstitious of not being together the night before , we live together so it seemed unnatural for us to be apart.
The wedding morning was mad , we had an amazing breakfast, we decorated the hotel , the photographer James o Driscoll was hilarious and I popped a wedding dress on to dive into the freezing Irish sea with my husband to be - it was invigorating to say the least.
The say in Ireland it rains , and I literally cannot believe it didn’t. I hired benches a week before for an outdoor wedding and it was charming. I had made bunting with Victorian napkins and found material and hung them on poles I got from Amazon .
Adam made a photo project where he had photos of his life with his little girl, and me with mine and then photos of us all on various camping trips and our blended life now. Woodley our camper van was parked right in front of the hotel and was our photo both. I popped in fancy dress items and camera stands also from Amazon.

The ceremony was beautiful, the celebrant we booked cancelled two weeks before the wedding so we were lucky to find another lovely lady to do this - she was great.
Adam and I both entered the ceremony separately arm in arm with our daughters and once we were married we went down the aisle together as a married couple with the girls as “bubble girls” and they had bubble guns . We brought English Champagne from Wiston estate and vintage coupes that I have collected from charity shops.
My dress was from Vinted for £50 and my nieces did my hair and makeup- Adams suit was from Reiss. Food was great, speeches were also great We were both relaxed and happy, danced to the band the tan Jackets later on - who all wear tan jackets and sunglasses - a great band from Cork.
The key to a good wedding is gratitude for the friends and family who traveled to be there - the love in the space and really to be relaxed as possible so you can enjoy it.
