Totally unprofessional
Our daughter and her husband booked this photographer to capture our daughter’s wedding at Bryn Meadows, with the date confirmed numerous times and the photography fully paid for.
The photographer has a clear booking process, which includes completing a questionnaire, having a consultation and then paying a booking deposit to secure the date. Her own booking information states that the deposit “fully locks in your date” and “ensures I'm reserved exclusively for your wedding date.”
So imagine our shock and heartbreak on the morning of the wedding.
The wedding ceremony was due to take place at 12pm. It was only because the Maid of Honour messaged the photographer that morning to ask where she was and whether she had arrived that we discovered she wasn't coming. The photographer responded at around 11am, just one hour before the ceremony, saying that she had put the wrong date in her diary and could no longer arrange childcare.
She did not contact us to tell us she wasn't coming. We only found out because the Maid of Honour contacted her.
We are absolutely devastated. A wedding day cannot simply be repeated, and the photographs are the memories that a couple will treasure for the rest of their lives. There were once in a lifetime moments that were supposed to be captured, and we cannot get those moments back.
What makes this even more upsetting is that this wasn't an unconfirmed date or a last minute enquiry. We had followed the photographer's own booking procedure, the date had been confirmed numerous times, and the service had been paid for. Her own advertised booking process specifically says that paying the deposit secures the date exclusively.
We completely understand that genuine emergencies can happen, but forgetting the date of a booked wedding and only revealing that she wasn't coming when the Maid of Honour contacted her at 11am on the morning of the wedding is, in our opinion, an unacceptable level of professionalism.
This wasn't just a missed appointment. This was someone's wedding day.
Our daughter and her husband trusted their photographer to be there to capture memories that can never be recreated. Instead, they were left without the person they had booked and paid to be there.
We are sharing our experience because we would want other couples to know exactly what happened before trusting someone with such an important part of their wedding day
