Frequently Asked Questions

What is your starting price?

£420 for first hour

What services do you offer?

Email and over the phone expert advice prior to and after booking up to the day itself, liaising with your venue and obtaining any special music requests. Setting up before the ceremony and performing whilst guests arrive, during ceremony, drinks reception and if required, the wedding breakfast.

What is included in the wedding package?

Continuous performance up to first hour of performance, normally covering the arrival of guests and the ceremony itself.

How far in advance should I contact you?

As far as possible - preferably at least a year in advance, although we do have some availability particularly for weekday weddings at shorter notice.

What style of music do you offer?

Contemporary arrangements of songs as well as film, show, classical and romantic. Music not already on our list can be arranged.

Type of musical group:

String Quartet (2 violins, viola and cello)

Size of musical group:

4 people.

We have a comprehensive repertoire list which is available to download and print from our website.

Is it possible to request something that is not in the repertoire?

Yes - we will always do our best to obtain a piece of music not already on our list, or if this is not possible, we can have it specially arranged for you.

18 years’ experience as a quartet, performing at hundreds of weddings. Each individual player has been trained to the highest standard at a UK conservatoire, has a portfolio of orchestral and chamber music performance and is recognised as a soloist in his/her own right.

Do you have your own equipment?

Yes - we arrive with music, stand and instrument - all we need are four chairs without arms and if playing outside, suitable shelter from the sun or spots of rain, to protect our valuable instruments.

Are you able to travel?

Yes - we can travel to venues and private homes across the West Midlands, The Cotswolds and neighbouring counties.

Is there a charge for travelling?

Charges may incur for fuel, but we always advise clients of this before a booking is made.

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

It is unusual for us to cover more than one wedding per day, although occasionally we are asked to play for a ceremony only for one client and drinks reception only for another client on the same day, in nearby locations.

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

We work as a string quartet and also have a list of trusted professional musicians whom we may call upon, should one of us be indisposed.

What is the length of time of the act?

We are not an “act” as such because the length of our performance is determined by our clients’ requirements. However, in the case of a ceremony followed by a drinks reception, we generally play continuously for up to two hours so that our performance is a seamless one. In the case of a booking longer than two hours, we will need a short break.

How much time do you need to prepare for an act?

We perform regularly together and rehearse new pieces of music not familiar to us, before any event.

Do you charge per hour or per event?

We charge per length of event, with a minimum of one hour’s playing. We have a price list which sets out our charges clearly.

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours

We are able to perform longer than the agreed time, providing all the players are able to stay fo r the extra period of time. Occasionally ceremonies start late, due to traffic and other unforeseen circumstances, but generally we are happy to accommodate last minute changes.

How do you charge for extra time?

We negotiate with the clients or their representatives to agree an extra fee.

What are the forms of payment?

We require a deposit on booking, followed by the balance four weeks before the event. All payments are made via BACS.

Are you covered by insurance?

Yes, we have full Public Liability up to £5,000,000 for our group.
