Based in South East London, Motown Memoirs brings the timeless sound of Motown to your wedding day with energy, heart, and a modern twist. We are a collective of exceptional musicians and vocalists known for vibrant live shows, rich harmonies, and a feel that blends classic Motown with contemporary soul.
Although Motown is at the core of what we do, we can step into soul, r'n'b and pop to create a soundtrack that feels just right for your celebration. Every couple is different, so we build bespoke packages for each wedding. You can choose something beautifully stripped back, like an acoustic vocal and guitar set, or go all out with a full 16-piece band and anything in between.
We believe your wedding music should feel personal. When we work with you, we take the time to understand the atmosphere you want, the moments that matter, and the memories you hope to create. From smooth, soulful ceremony songs to high-energy classics that get every guest dancing, we shape the performance around your story.

Meet the team
I’m Michael “Smoove” Hamilton, a Musical Director, bassist and live music specialist with over 25 years in the industry. After touring the world and directing live shows for artists like Jessie J, Stormzy, Tinie Tempah, Aitch, N-Dubz and many more, I created Motown Memoirs to celebrate the music that shaped so many unforgettable moments.
Motown Memoirs is my heart project. I lead a collective of incredible musicians and vocalists who bring the magic of Motown and classic soul to life with energy style and a contemporary edge. We honour the timeless sound of artists like Marvin Gaye The Supremes Stevie Wonder and The Temptations while giving every performance a fresh vibrant feel.
For weddings I focus on creating a soundtrack that feels joyful personal and completely unforgettable. Whether you want smooth soulful moments during your ceremony or high-energy classics that get every guest on the dance floor, my aim is to shape a live experience that fits your day perfectly.
