Planning the perfect party for your Wedding? That’s where we come in. At RK DJ, we’re all about creating celebrations that feel personal, fun, and full of energy. Based in Dumfries & Galloway, we’ve been bringing the music and good vibes to Weddings across Scotland for over 15 years. We’re proud to be recognised as the Scottish Wedding DJ of the Year 2025 at The Wedding Industry Awards and Highly Recommended at the Scottish Confetti Wedding Awards 2024, but what matters most is helping you and your guests have an amazing time.

For us, it’s simple: you bring the people, we bring the music. We take the time to get to know you, understand what you love (and what you don’t), and build a set that reflects your style. Our Online Planner makes song requests easy - you can select your must-plays, avoid the tracks you don’t want, and ensure the music suits you perfectly. On the night, we read the room and keep the energy flowing, mixing live to keep things seamless and fun - without unnecessary talking on the microphone.

Looking to mix tradition with a modern twist? Our Ceilidh DJ package offers just that. With a professional caller to walk your guests through each dance, it’s a fun way to get everyone involved - no previous ceilidh experience required! You decide how much ceilidh or disco you’d like - it’s completely up to you.

How far in advance should I contact you?

Usually we recommend booking around twelve months in advance for peak times of the year, such as Summer and Christmas, however, sometimes we can fit events in at the last minute

We carry a huge music collection with music from the 1950s, right up to current chart music, so we can play music to suit you and your event

Absolutely – We welcome requests from all guests on the night and in advance via our Online Planning Facilities

What is the length of time of the act?

We have no set finish time. We will work with you and your venue to agree a suitable finishing time for your event

How much time do you need to prepare for an act?

We always arrive well before the start of your event to get setup and organised. Usually we give ourselves 90 minutes to setup the disco, however, we can setup in under an hour if required

Do you do open-air acts?

Yes

Do you charge per hour or per event?

Per event

Overtime is charge at an hourly rate

5* Service, Faultless

After looking at several potential DJs, Ross stood out prominently from everyone else for his enthusiasm, attentiveness and professionalism. From the moment we booked him, he was so organised and catered for all of our wishes. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked the DJ and Ceilidh package and were not disappointed. Ross delivered a brilliant service on the night and everybody was hugely impressed with his performance and personal touches. Really top guy and top DJ. Highly recommend.

Wedding Event

We booked Ross to DJ at our wedding on Friday 9th August 2024 at Hetland Hall in Dumfries. Ross was fantastic from start to finish. Communication and pre planning was an easy process and nothing was a bother for Ross. On the night Ross was excellent. He read the room well, done his thing and had our guests up dancing all night. We received some great feedback from our guests and they loved the party!

Highly recommended

Absolutely first class DJ, we are so glad we had Ross at our wedding.
The whole process from start to finish was so easy.
The courtesy call a few days before our wedding was a nice touch, Ross wanted to make sure all our needs were met and to be sure about our music choices.
A really nice guy, very experienced and professional.

Our experience was excellent.

Ross at RK DJ is an experienced wedding DJ and it shows. He does everything so professionally, from the intial enquiries at first booking right up to the end of the night at the evening wedding reception. He is also a really nice guy and with such nice manners. Ross gave really good advice about how we went about selecting our music for the reception, and really listened to what we wanted and at the same time was honest about what would go well. He was really enthusiastic about our playlist which was so nice. At our meeting a week or so before our wedding he got us in such good spirits about it all. We left the meeting excited and on a high. Also Ross's reminders for doing what we needed to for him to make sure our reception went so well were perfectly timed. I am so glad we snapped up RK DJ right after we booked our wedding. Can't imagine anyone else could have made our night what it was in that way. The dance floor was filled all night which was brilliant!

Please look no further for a DJ! Ross is incredible at what he does and he is an absolute delight to work with. He was able to read the room, play more of the songs that were getting people on the dancefloor and was happy to take requests from the guests. And a wonderful icing on the cake was him sending over some photos from the dancefloor to help us reminisce on our day before we have the professional photos back. Couldn’t recommend Ross enough! 👏🏻

Full dancefloor

Ross was an excellent dj. We have a brief idea of the kind of music we would like and he absolutely nailed it. The dance floor was constantly full all evening We even included some ceilidh fences which went down a storm even with the Irish half of the wedding. Would highly recommend.

Piper & Dj

Ross recently piped for our wedding and he was absolutely faultless, he even learned a tune on the pipes for me that he had never even tried before. He then went on to be our evening DJ too and the dance floor was absolutely bouncing. Ross and his services are second to none. We really can't thank or recommend him enough. Nothing is ever too much. Great lad and great tunes.

Exceptional wedding DJ

We approached Ross to DJ at our wedding in Dumfriesshire in early May. From the moment we contacted him, he was professional, efficient, and helpful and set the perfect tone for our Wedding party. The website and online planning resources are fantastic and we also had a pre-wedding Zoom to discuss the kind of DJ set we were looking for. He was always so responsive and happy to meet our requirements! On the day, his DJ set up was pristine, looked brilliant, very tasteful and classy! The music was all exactly as we wished, the perfect tone for a brilliant party. He introduced our band, took requests, and also did a few jokey sets/mash-ups for us. After the wedding he send us a gallery of brilliant photographs of our first and last few dances - incredible that he captured those memories. We cannot recommend Ross enough. Absolutely brilliant!

Highly professional, friendly and fun!

RKDJ is a regular visitor here at Kinmount and was our first choice when choosing a DJ for a charity event we held recently. He kindly acted as compere for the evening and so many guests commented on how professional he was. He also injected a lot of fun into the evening when the live auction took place. His choice of music was spot on for our 80s theme. We cannot recommend Ross highly enough.

A fantastic DJ with both piping and DJ services. Ross made our day all that more special with his piping and later in the evening getting people on the dance floor. His online planner took a lot of stress out of our planning and ensured we had songs that may have been overlooked otherwise.

Rkdj wedding dj

Ross played at our wedding at Springkell and was absolutely fantastic. Even before our wedding, he seamlessly coordinated our schedule, had an easy-to-use system, and much appreciated payment process. On our wedding day, he was friendly, and even got our 35-person wedding dancing for hours! We had some last-minute schedule changes that he rolled with easily, adjusting and continuing to play a great mix of music all night, from wedding classics to modern hits that all ages enjoyed. Every song that we requested was played and he interspersed our requests seamlessly. The dance floor was hopping all night. The lighting, especially the stars, were also a huge hit! Thank you, Ross, for making this American couples' wedding day perfect.
