About
Lotus Sisters Belly Dance Company perform fast-paced, theatrical and folkloric-infused choreography, often playing drums or balancing props such as swords and ceremonial bowls on their heads! They also like to end their shows with a bit of a party, often getting audiences involved – a great way of getting your guests to kick off their shoes and join in! And if you are the sort of couple who likes to dance, The Lotus Sisters will get you up and make you the focal point of your special day!
Why Belly Dancing is Great Entertainment for Your Wedding
Perfect if you are having a festival-feel do, a colourful wedding, or are adventurous and fancy some vibrant entertainment that is a little bit different to the norm! The Lotus Sisters sets are fully family-friendly - the little ones just love all the colours - and feature a mix of group and solo choreographies. Equally, you can just book a solo performer.
Traditionally, in other countries, belly dancers lead a wedding parade (Zaffa), symbolising the grand entrance of the couple to their reception before putting on a grand display of dance! Belly dance is flexible entertainment for any time of your big day - The Lotus Sisters can enchant your day guests in that gap at the reception after food, before the evening starts, and they are just at home after dark, bringing the atmosphere and getting the party started for your evening guests.
Belly dance also makes for a fun hen party activity - Ronnie has been running belly dance hen parties for over a decade and will have your hens shimmying and shaking with laughter! She can also choreograph a belly dance flash mob for your reception or even a Middle Eastern-inspired first dance!
A Bit About the Group
Lotus Sisters Belly Dance is inspired by the regional Egyptian and Middle Eastern style of dance, folkloric fusion belly dancers, which basically means they pay homage to classic Egyptian performers and troupes. There's also a helping of Celtic and ancient symbolism and ritual, plus history and theatre.
Led by Ronnie, an award-winning performer, the group have performed across Wales and the UK at various events, from large-scale festivals and prestigious shows to weddings, handfastings, and birthday parties. Their mission is to inspire, create and connect in an all-sensory and inclusive experience.
Performance Info
- Sets are usually 15 minutes each. At an average event, we usually perform two 15-minute sets with a 30-minute break (and costume change, if the couple wishes) in between. Longer sets are available at additional cost, and we can, of course, tailor our sets accordingly.
- You can choose our set—choose from our "menu" of dances to wow your guests.
- We love a colour theme!
- Performers will need an area of three-metres-by-three-metres to dance. This can be outside (weather and season-dependent), inside, or if you are lucky enough to have a stage, we will happily take to that!
- Dancers will need 30 minutes prior to dancing to set up. We come with a portable PA of our own, but if your venue has an in-house system, even better!
NB: not for male-only audiences or stag dos.
