Live Wedding Painting and Guest Illustration by Patrick Heisel is a professional live wedding painter and guest illustrator specialising in watercolours available across the UK.

A photograph preserves a moment, but a painting has the power to turn it into poetry. My live wedding painting captures the emotion, joy, and tenderness of your day in a way that feels timeless—while giving your guests the joy of watching your love story come to life, brushstroke by brushstroke.
Watercolours are renowned for its light, bright, and translucent qualities. It is also one of the most difficult mediums to master over many years. The vibrant but soft nature of watercolours captivates the viewer’s eye in ways that are much different from other mediums like oil or arcylic which can sometimes seem dark, blocky or thick. Watercolours also provides a natural and warm depiction of the scene with an artistic feel as the colours and texture naturally blend. This means that my paintings are created to hold the warmth, joy, and deep connection of your celebration, allowing you to remember not only how your wedding looked, but how it felt. With a gentle focus on likeness and thoughtful artistic touches, my painting will ensure that you and your partner are portrayed at your best and most radiant.
Every artwork is lovingly personalised to reflect your vision and the atmosphere you’ve dreamed of. The result is a romantic keepsake—an heirloom filled with emotion, beauty, and the essence of your love—sure to create a true “wow” moment for you and your guests.

I offers two main services:
A: Live wedding portrait paintings of the bride and groom; and
B: Live wedding guest portraits/illustrations as timeless favours.
A: Live Wedding Portrait Paintings for Bride & Groom
My packages are transparent and includes everything below with no hidden costs or travel expenses.
I offer two sizes
• A3 (33 x 49 cm) - from £699
• A2 (42 x 59.4 cm) - from £1099
Each package includes:
• A high-quality watercolour scene or portrait of your choice, created with professional-grade materials and true-to-life likeness.
• A consultation call to discuss your vision and preferences.
• Up to 7 hours of live painting on the day, with guest interaction (setup time not included) and artist travel expenses (to most locations in the UK)
• Additional studio time post-event to refine and perfect your painting.
• Signed and secure delivery to your home
• A glass display in a wooden frame with a cream mount — ready to hang, in your choice of white, black, oak, or rustic finish.
B: Live Wedding Guests Portraits / Illustrations
I offer three packages
Classic - 4 hours of guest portraits for around 30 guests £599
Signature - all day/evening guest portraits for around 70 guests £999
Deluxe - all day/evening guest portraits from around 80+ guests (guests who didn’t recieve a portraits on the day will be posted to their home address) including A4 watercolour portrait of the newly weds, guest portraits presented in a framed mount and stamped with the couples initials and date of wedding and more £1499
However, if you have more or less guests or would like a different timings please send me a message so I can provide a tailored quote.
Only a 10% deposit is required to secure the booking so don’t delay.

More than just a painting!!
The layers of artwork built up throughout the afternoon and evening, capturing the atmosphere, essence and energy. He captured the love that thrummed through every part of the ceremony. He managed to capture my wife and I perfectly, the likeness is exceptional. More than this, he managed to infuse our personalities into the artwork. Knowing how important the music was, somehow, Patrick managed to transmute the quartet music into colours and brush strokes, it is utter magic! Artistic alchemy 🥰
The Perfect Wedding Gift
From the very beginning, communication was amazing. We had a few calls before the wedding where I could explain my vision, and Patrick was so enthusiastic and helpful in figuring out what would work best. You can really tell he loves what he does!
On the day, I was the maid of honour and was so busy that I barely had time to speak to him, but he handled everything so smoothly and created the most perfect surprise for the bride and groom. They absolutely loved the painting! 🥰
Patrick was also so lovely with all the guests. Everyone enjoyed chatting to him and watching him paint. It was amazing to see him create such a beautiful painting while also keeping everyone entertained (such an incredible skill).
He even took the time to speak to my sister on the day and adjusted the painting to match her wishes, such as adding pillars to make her bouquet stand out. The final A3 painting captured such a special moment from their first look and turned out absolutely stunning. It’s now going to be the first piece of decor in their new apartment, which makes it even more special!
Post-wedding day, I also loved the content he created from the Wedding and painting! The extra details like the gold he added in the studio was eye-catching and made the final painting perfect.

We were so happy when we cane across Patrick's page. His work was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. When I reached out he was so responsive and from our first conversation I could tell how much care and passion he puts into his craft. A painting we'll treasure forever
One of the things that was really important to me was incorporating our cat, who is such a huge part of our lives but, unfortunately, wouldn’t be there to celebrate with us! Patrick was so open to the idea and helped us think about how we could incorporate him naturally into the painting.
We also had quite a specific vision. We wanted to capture the traditional first kiss, but we also wanted some of our guests included and, of course, the beautiful scenery of Wickham Estate. Patrick suggested bringing “us” further forward within the composition, which allowed him to incorporate all of these elements without compromising the overall scene. His expertise and suggestions made such a difference.
On the day, it was incredible watching the painting come to life. Our guests loved being able to see Patrick working throughout the celebrations, and it became a real talking point during the day.
When we received the finished painting, we were completely blown away. Patrick had captured so many elements of our wedding that were important to us, and there were even little details we hadn't expected. One of our favourite surprises was noticing, when the light caught the painting at a particular angle, that our wedding bands were glistening with gold. It was such a subtle and beautiful detail, and something we were so impressed by.
We also loved receiving the video of Patrick creating the painting, with little flashes of the wedding day woven throughout. It was such a lovely way to relive the atmosphere and see the painting come together, and made the finished artwork feel even more special.
We now have a completely unique piece of artwork that captures our wedding day and all the things that made it special to us. It is something we will be able to look at for years to come and remember not just how the day looked, but how it felt.

The perfect wedding memory
Patrick is super friendly, asks loads of excellent questions to ensure the end result is perfect, and makes sure he dresses to suit your theme too, which we both appreciated alot!
After the ceremony, he gets to work, but is always willing to have a chat as people watch him paint, explaining what he is doing, and how he does it, and its great to see the clips afterwards of the guests reactions as they see his work.
2-3 weeks after the wedding, we have received the finished painting in a lovely frame, and we couldn't be happier, the painting perfectly captures our first kiss and we could not be happier.

Patrick Heisel OBE, is a London based professional artist with over a decade of experience in ink and watercolour. Much of his knowledge and skills were taught through mentoring by accomplished artists and training courses by the masters in watercolour painting.
Patrick's main interests are landscape, architecture, military, police and wedding scenes. His use of loose ink, shadows, texture and perspective makes his work truly unique.
The aim of his paintings is to reveal the natural beauty of a landscape, character of a building or joy and emotion of a wedding scene that the observer would not otherwise see.
Early on in his life, he served as a police officer in Metropolitan Police Service and commissioned staff officer in the Army Cadet Force.
He has competed as a wildcard contestant for Sky Arts 'Landscape Artist of the Year' television show and has taken part in many plein air events. He also donates his paintings for charity auctions and other good causes.
Patrick was awarded his OBE in 2013 for services to policing and education.
