Ceremonies with Soul, Sass, and a Touch of Sparkle

Alex (she/her) is a celebrant, storyteller, and founder of Rites and Roots, crafting wedding ceremonies that feel like poetry, rebellion, and your favourite love song rolled into one.

With a background as a registrar, Alex brings both professional expertise and heartfelt creativity to every ceremony. Whether couples want religious elements, non-religious rituals, or something entirely unique, she guides them every step of the way — from the moment they book to the final confetti toss.

She officiates weddings anywhere — from windswept coastlines to candlelit barns, city rooftops to woodland clearings — wherever the story wants to unfold.

Alex is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly and deeply inclusive. As a Welsh learner (dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg), she’s always happy to include Welsh language or cultural elements in your ceremony — whether it’s a blessing, a reading, or a quiet nod to your roots.

She’s a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC) and holds full public liability and professional indemnity insurance, and also holds a current valid DBS certificate giving couples peace of mind alongside all the sparkle.

Packages to suit most budgets - From intimate and simple to bold and bespoke, Alex offers a tiered package system designed to meet couples where they are. Whether you’re dreaming of a heartfelt ceremony with all the essentials, a ritual‑rich experience with keepsakes, or a twilight celebration under the stars, there’s a package to match your vision.

Each couple receives:

• A bespoke keepsake ceremony script, commemorative certificate, and any items used in ceremony enhancements

• Support in writing personal vows, with collaborative meetings online and in person

• Full liaison with photographer and venue, ensuring everything flows beautifully

Alex arrives an hour before the ceremony, with time to breathe, settle, and handle anything unexpected — from last-minute nerves to wonky buttonholes. She only books one wedding per day, so there’s no clock-watching, no pressure — just a relaxed, joyful lead-up to your moment.

  • Celebrant-led and story-driven
  • Rituals with heart, words with bite
  • Alt-glam vibes welcome. Sparkle encouraged. Tradition optional.

Alex has worked with couples of all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and creates the kind of ceremony everyone remembers — the moment that gives goosebumps, belly laughs, cutural significance, and maybe a few happy tears.

Catch me at the Brangwyn Hall Witches Market and Spiritual Fayre on Saturday 21st March — It's a great market alive with makers, mystics, and beautifully unconventional souls.

I’ll be wandering among the crafts, candles, and creativity, connecting with people who feel most at home in spaces where intuition, artistry, and a touch of magic are part of everyday life.

I genuinely love meeting couples face to face — whether you’re ready to book, gathering inspiration, or simply curious about how ritual and storytelling can shape a ceremony. Those in‑person conversations are one of my favourite parts of this work.

If your wedding vision leans towards the enchanted — festival energy, folklore threads, symbolic rituals, or vows that feel like spells whispered between kindred spirits — come find me. I’d be delighted to meet you, hear your ideas, and explore how we can weave something meaningful together.

Meet the team

Alex Clare
Alex Clare
Independent Celebrant and Founder

Hi, I’m Alex (she/her) — celebrant, storyteller, and former registrar with a deep love for meaningful moments and beautifully told stories.

I spent years in hospitality management, so I’m community-driven to the core: calm under pressure, warm in chaos, and always ready with a Plan B (and a safety pin).

I’m proudly LGBTQ+ friendly and endlessly inclusive. I’m here to help you shape a ceremony that reflects who you are — your values, your quirks, your love — with no pressure to follow a script or tradition that doesn’t fit.

I’m also a Welsh learner (dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg) and always happy to include Welsh language or cultural touches in your ceremony — whether it’s a reading, a blessing, or just a moment that nods to your roots.

Outside of ceremonies, I’m a bit of a nerd. I love 80s/90s cartoons, cosplay, and anything with emotional depth and a touch of sparkle. I’m all about creating space for connection — the kind that feels grounded, joyful, and unmistakably you.

If you’re looking for someone who’ll meet you where you are, honour your story, and help you feel calm, seen, and celebrated — I’d love to be part of your day.
