Wow. Good for them. At those prices I might even get up to the 16 bras I'm apparently supposed to own. [hot foots it to Asda] ?

In fairness though it will probably have a high nylon / polyester content.

One price fits all: Now Asda launches £4 credit crunch bra in M&S backlash

Asda has joined the 'big bra' debate by declaring: 'One price fits all'.

The supermarket giant's George brand unveiled a £4 bra, available in A to F cup sizes, to support 'shoppers' wallets as well as their busts'.

The move follows criticism of Marks & Spencer for charging women with bigger busts more for lingerie.

Fiona Lambert, George's brand director, said: 'Retailers should put an end once and for all to one of the last prejudices - that of the bigger busted woman.

Real women come in all shapes and sizes and so bras at George are exactly the same price from A cup through to F cup.

'No one would dream of charging one price for size seven men's socks and a different price for a man with larger feet, so why should they do the same with ladies that are blessed in the chest department?'

Marks & Spencer charges an extra £2 on bras above a DD cup, which caused Beckie Williams, 26, to start a Busts for Justice group on facebook.

The campaign has more than 8,000 members urging a change to M&S's pricing policy.

The higher price applies for bras of DD and larger. However, Miss Williams, said this does not necessarily reflect a greater use of materials.

She claimed a D cup bra on a woman with a 38-inch back, will use up more material than a DD on a 30-inch back.

'There is enormous frustration about this,' she said. 'We feel we are bashing our heads against a brick wall.

'We have been taken by surprise about how angry women are about this unfair charge. It just shows how much of an emotional issue having big boobs is for a lot of women.

'People may joke about it, but bras are a sensitive subject. A well-fitted one can improve a woman's self-esteem.'

A spokesman for M&S claimed the store offered the most comprehensive DD+ collection and one of the most competitively priced on the high street.

He said: 'We design the collections to provide as much support and comfort as possible. This includes special design features such as wider straps, greater support in the cup and additional material around the back area to ensure the delicate breast tissue is properly supported and protected.

'Customers have told us they are happy to pay a small premium (between £1.50 and £2) for the specialist work to ensure suitable level of support, innovation and technology that goes into the bras.

M&S rival La Senza charges a uniform rate regardless of size.

Lisa Bond, La Senza's marketing director, said: 'We don't believe that you should discriminate against women because of the size of their chest.'

British women have the largest breasts in Europe with more than 25% wearing a D-F cup and the average size is a 34D.

There was also a 3% increase in women buying D-F cup bras.

Bah, they still don't do my size. I bet it's scratchy as hell.

Charging more for bigger-sized items isn't news though, is it? I thought this happened everywhere all the time?

So Asda is discriminating against bra wearers that are larger than an F? The minority? ?

And as for La Senza, I don't think they stock anything bigger than a D/DD.

Hmm, I have a couple of Asda bras and I'm a H cup. I must say they were cheap but they aren't very supportive. I wear them in the house but thats about it. Still, £4 is very cheap.

Were they more expensive than A-F cups though? sort of defeats Asda's stance on cheap bras for all.

I don't think they were actually. I paid about £8, but this was over a year ago, which is a complete bargain for bras that size. Shame it wasn't as good as hoped, you get what you pay for. I tried the Katie Price bras and found them so uncomfortable, full of padding- something I certainly don't need.

They do up to a FF/G these days, though the FF is significantly smaller than my FF in other brands ie Panache/Freya

My (rather lame) point was, are the advertised £4 bras available for cup sizes over an F? If not, then they're not really making a crusade for 'cheap bras for all' rather a marketing ploy.

I'm a G cup. Tesco sells bras in my size and i've bought a few cheapies but they really are not comparable to the bras I buy from Debenhams or M&S. I think the cheapest bra for my size in either of these stores is probably around £16, which isn't to bad in my opinion and i've tried on a few of the cheaper ones, but they just don't do it for me. Not enough support, straps are usually too thin and aren't fully adjustable.

I really don't get the facebook crusade. Bras for larger breasted women need more support ,more material and scaffolding ? They're obviously going to cost more to manufacture. As I said before M&S and Debenhams do 'cheaper' bras that are probably better supportive than a £4 bra from a supermarket. I'm just glad I can replace with better quality a few times a year.

I feel Ya! I'm a 34DDD for now.. last kid went to a 36i after my milk came in so I've moved onto to sports bras.. I bought a large today and it's WAY too small but I just can't fathom buying an extra large hahahaThe struggles. Victoria's secret has good sports bras but I'm not sure how big their sizes get.. I feel like DDD is the biggest they carry.Try a specialty store?
