About Moritz Schmittat Videography

My name is Moritz, I live in Guildford and I'm a wedding videographer.

My wedding films are all about storytelling - your story! I'd like to paint a picture with my video of who you are on your wedding day, how you've met, how you feel and how you've grow together as a married couple by the end of the day. I like to incorporate little interview snippets to give your video a more personal touch. I also would like to know your hopes and dreams for the future because your wedding itself is just the beginning of something much bigger: your married life together! To me a good wedding film is not just about pretty moving images cut to music.... it's about tastefully documenting your wedding journey from start to finish.

Please check out the three videos below and please visit my website for more examples and information. Feel free to get in touch as I'd love to hear your plans and to pitch my ideas to you.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Moritz ended up being a life saver for us as we were working with a tight budget. We are very happy with the photos of our big day. So pleased everything went smoothly on the day and moritz was very professional and calm throughout. I would highly recommend his services to anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

We see that you like to interview the bride and groom on the wedding day... is that a must?

No, of course not... but in my opinion it adds a very special personal touch to your film. Imagine you'll be watching it 10 years from now, how nice would it be to actually see and hear yourself speak about your wedding and your life together. It's a wonderful way of documenting who you are and how you feel on this big day. I'm very respectful in the edit: if you're nervous and say anything embarrassing or start to stumble I'd never use that sequence for the edit.

Many wedding films out there have a very bad audio quality. How do you make your videos sound good?

Audio recording is extremely important for me. I use professional wireless clip-on microphones (four of them) which I strategically hide among the VIP. There will be one on the groom, the registrar, the lectern and maybe even one hidden in the flowers. They are invisible but incredibly valuable for TV quality sound recording.

We see in your edits that you often film with from multiple angles at the same time. How does that work?

Usually I have at least two stationary cameras on tripods which are running continuously while I carry a third one around. This technique allows me later in the edit to always show the action from an interesting angle. This technique raises the overall production value.

Why do you offer two edits?

All my videos come in two versions: a long one and a short one. The long one includes EVERYTHING: the entire uncut ceremony, all of the speeches, all video messages by your guests and your first dance. The longest one I've ever done was 1.5h long. I know this is much too long to watch with your friends and family but I believe it's great to have for your family archive. Imagine on your 10th anniversary... you might actually open a bottle and sit to watch the whole thing again! The short is typically around 10min long and includes only the best of everything: snippets of the preparations, the vows and the kiss in the ceremony, the best bits of the speeches and the highlights of the party. I believe 10m is a comfortable length to watch with your friends and family.
