Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
We offer multiple services, full details can be found on our website via our brochure. Currently we have two packages aimed to fulfil most requirements. If you do not find a package that is right for you please contact us.
What does your wedding package include?
We have 2 simple packages called 'Purple' or 'Purple Plus'. We believe our packages meet the needs of most couples, however, if you need something a little bespoke then please contact us.
How far in advance should I contact you?
We have no restrictions on this, but the sooner the better! If you contact us a week before your wedding day and we are free this is usually fine with us.
Do you cover more than one wedding per day?
Unfortunately not, 100% of our time an effort is put into the wedding we are currently covering.
Are you able to travel?
Yes, we can travel but would discuss this with the couple first.
Is there a charge for travelling?
This depends on the location, we would always speak to the couple first and calculate if it is necessary to charge.
What kind of technology do you use?
We use professional Sony camcorders along with professional Canon DSLR''s. We also use professional camera sliders and gliders, such as the DJI Ronin, which produces extremely smooth video for the cinematic effect.
If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?
Yes, that is not a problem. Our updated prices can be found on our website, or we can discuss with you.
What are the forms of payment?
Our preferred payment method is bank transfer, although we do also accept cheques.
How do you work?
There are two of us and we operate in the background capturing things naturally as they occur.
How long do you stay?
This depends on the hours you choose but usually we are there until the first dance has finished. If you have also picked GuestCAM we usually do this right at the end when your guests are a little more relaxed.
What do you wear at our wedding?
We wear smart trousers and a shirt. We do not usually wear a tie or jacket, but if you prefered we did then just ask.
Are you insured?
Yes, we have a dedicated photography insurance policy that also includes public liability.
How and when do we pay?
You pay an initial deposit to secure the date, then the balance one month before the big day.
Do we feed you?
This is totally up to you, but we would would need to know so please confirm this on the booking form.
What happens if you fall ill, or have an accident etc?
We have never missed a wedding and will always do our best to ensure we never do, however, as part of our contingent planning, we are part of an extensive network of fellow professional wedding videographers.
Do you work alone?
There will always be two of us due to the amount of equipment we have, however depending on which package you choose only one of us may be filming whilst other preps equipment.
How much do you charge?
We understand how confusing it can be when choosing your wedding videographer, there are so many options to choose from! We do not believe in creating 5 or 6 packages that leave couples confused, that is why we have created just 2 simple packages that meet almost all our couples requirements, budgets and also provide complete wedding coverage.
Our price range is between £980.00 and £1,250.00, to find out more about our packages please visit our website.
How does it work on the day?
We setup a quick call with you one week before your wedding, this gives us a chance to explain what to expect from us on the day, but most importantly, for you to update us on any changes from the booking form.
Every wedding is completely different, but generally we arrive at the venue early. This allows us time to capture preparation shots and also shots with none of your guests in. We then agree a time to come and capture some bride preparation (unless you don’t want this included). The rest of the day is really structured around the booking form you would have completed, this states the times of main events such as The Ceremony, Speeches, Cake Cutting and the First Dance.
You do not have to interact with us on the day, we like to remain discreet and capture the day as it unfolds naturally. Most of our couples tell us that they totally forgot we were there and do not remember us filming them, which is key for capturing beautiful natural reactions.
Can I see any reviews or testimonials?
Great question, and yes absolutely! Reviews from our couples and even guests that have attended weddings can be found on our website PurpleTripod.com, on Hitched.co.uk, Google and our Facebook page.
How much footage will you capture on the day?
This is difficult to say because each wedding is so different, but on average we capture around 160-200 Gigabytes of RAW footage. We like to capture as much footage as possible as this helps us when we get back to the editing suite and start to structure your story together.
How long will our finished video be?
We provide 2 videos to you.
The first video is between 3 and 5 minutes long, this is your highlights video that consists of all your best bits and edited to a soundtrack. The purpose of this video is so that you can share it on social media with your friends and family.
The second video is between 1 and 2 hours long, this is your personal extended edit that contains continuous footage of your ceremony, speeches and first dance. Depending which package you choose extra footage is also included, such as bits of the cocktail hour.
Can we have access to extra footage/out-takes?
Yes, we offer a service that provides all as-shot RAW footage for you on an external hard drive.
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes, some of our recent work can be found on our website at www.PurpleTripod.com
I’m camera shy – is there anything you can do to help?
Absolutely, this is always discussed with our couples early on and it is important to us that you feel comfortable. We never ask you to do anything and we do not have a camera in your face. We like to document the day from a distance so that we capture natural shots. If you have any concerns at all, let us know! It’s your day and it can go however you want it to.
Do we get any input into the finished video?
Unfortunately the style of edit is down to the editor, they will have an idea of how the story should flow, and also the best shots to use. However, if there was a particular shot you didn’t like we can always look into replacing it with another scene.
How will you work with our photographer?
This is a very good question!
It is important that your photographer knows we are attending.
We always treat your photographer as the primary shooter, they take primary position and we always stay out of their way during filming. They can however, get in our shots, this is not a problem because we are multiple cameras we can cut to.
We always work with your photographer this helps us all get the best from your big day.
Some helpful tips from PurpleTripod.com
• What video equipment to they use? For example, we use professional DSLRs for detail shots and professional broadcast Sony camcorders for ceremonies and speeches.
• Do they use any tools to enhance the cinematic look of your video? For example we use professional sliders and electronic gimbals which removes camera shake and produces very smooth footage.
• How many weddings do they film each year? For example, our policy is to only film 10-15 weddings a year, maximum. If you take on anymore than this you simply cannot put in the time required to produce a stunning wedding film. What you want to avoid is a conveyer-belt of wedding films being edited to a deadline.
• Make sure you get on with your videographer. Sounds like an obvious tip but honestly, you spend a lot of time together so its important you feel comfortable around them. We are a really friendly and approachable team at PurpleTripod.com, checkout our reviews ??.
• During the day make sure your videographer is kept in the loop. Plans change all the time, so it’s important your videographer is aware so they don’t miss anything.
• Make sure your videographer knows who will be speaking on the day. For example, we use high quality broadcast audio lapels which enables us to pickup voices much clearer. If we do not know they are speaking we wont be able to mic them up.
• Most importantly, just totally ignore your videographer and let them capture the day. They are trained and experienced to capture everything in the best way possible, just enjoy your day and take it all in.
