Situated in the village of Woughton-On-Green, one of the few remaining medieval villages around which Milton Keynes was built, Woughton House MGallery By Sofitel is a hidden gem.

Surrounded by acres of stunning parkland, lakes and orchards of the Ouzel Valley Park in the Buckinghamshire countryside, it offers a picturesque setting for weddings. Woughton House MGallery By Sofitel has an in-house wedding planning team, to ensure that each wedding is bespoke and caters to every couple’s needs, ensuring that they have an unforgettable day. The Clubhouse Suite accommodates up to 180 seated guests and up to 250 people for an evening reception, with exclusive venue hire.

The hotel offers a range of wedding packages, including Grand Affair’, which features a complimentary overnight stay with breakfast in one of the stunning Privilege bedrooms.

Couples can choose from a selection of menus for their special day. The Grand Affair’ wedding package includes a luxurious evening platter buffet for day guests. During the summer months, couples can enjoy a BBQ or hog roast on the outdoor terrace, overlooking the idyllic countryside views, making Woughton House MGallery By Sofitel the perfect wedding venue all year round.

Canapés are served during the drinks reception, as well as free flowing wine, cocktails and a glass of bubbles for the toast. Couples also have the option of an extra special wedding breakfast the following morning with a delicious array of fresh dishes.

For couples looking for a more intimate wedding breakfast, the property boasts a restaurant bar and lounge area, Seasons restaurant. It seats 50 guests and serves indulgent British cuisine, with a selection of seasonal and locally produced dishes, accompanied by hand-picked wines from the hotel’s wine cellar.

Ruined by the poor running and incompetence

We had exclusive use but another wedding there! Only half the drinks were served. Promised room to get ready - tiny conference room. Eventually provided room, had to split getting ready, walking through hotel half dressed. No Master of Ceremonies (included in package). Canapes and drinks served to hotel and the other weddings guests. Paid for 130 buffet – buffet served 35 max. Swapped seafood for fries and rolls -one small bowl of fries, no rolls. Another couples’ details sent to us prior to wedding, they had same package but lower price. Were told they booked nearer to date, very unfair as booked 15 months advance. Toasting prosecco half filled, one table none as ‘run out’. Staff moaning about management, felt very stretched. Guest witnessed manager shouting at young waitresses ordering one of them to leave our wedding and help behind main bar. Chucked wedding cake in the freezer, next day claimed it had been eaten. Eventually was provided. Front entrance not cleaned from night before, including dried pile of sick which is in our pictures! Private bar had one staff running it, more expensive than hotel bar. Ran out of red wine during dinner. Later were selling red wine at bar? Side area of private bar was closed all night. Bridal suite was standard room, no working kettle, only some complimentary water! We didn’t have lists of special requests. Been in three times to speak to Manager and give chance to acknowledge. Manager didn’t show up to one meeting they arranged. Very arrogant, claims to have people queuing so ‘shortcomings’ at ours would not put others off. Set in beautiful surroundings. Communication between wedding team and ground staff was non-existent, not providing everything in package is appalling. Can’t rewind our special day, they’re completely incompetent to host weddings.

Dear Casey Having dealt with your mother Mrs Cracknell at 3 separate meetings I feel it is best I reply to your concerns. Initially we apologise that your day was not what you had hoped for and we do take responsibility for some of what is mentioned above. As a hotel we have a very good reputation for weddings as all the other 3rd party forums show but some elements of your day were not to our usual standard. In my initial meeting with Mrs Cracknell we went through her concerns and then in our follow up meetings we discussed each point in turn after a thorough investigation. There were issues i certainly acknowledged and some i did not, with evidence to back these up which I shared with Mrs Cracknell. Having never met you i assume most of the above was feedback from your mother rather than myself. Although I did say to her I wanted to meet with you directly where we would have discussed suitable compensation but I did not hear anything. In reference to the missed meeting i am slightly concerned with these comments as Mrs Cracknell knows exactly why I could not attend and the severity of the reason why. The staff comments are also concerning as most of the stress and angst they had were the result of accusations made and verbal abuse directed at my team by a very close female relative to yourself, who was severely abusive and said they had stolen various items, only to find those items either in their bedroom or partner's pocket with no apology forthcoming, just more abuse. I would like to make it very clear that after all this I am very apologetic that your day was not as special as you had hoped for and my offer still stands if you would like to have a conversation. I appreciate and believe these forums and responses should be based on an apology which is my overriding message. However i also feel when accusations have been made which have a personal slant to them like this review, we should have the right to reply and give our explanation of events which i empathise you might not agree with. We take great pride in what we do here and i only wish your day could have been better.

Sam, Gareth and the team worked tirelessly to ensure a perfect day. Our guests commented on how smoothly the the day flowed and how good the service was. The food was outstanding and all areas of the the hotel both inside and out were perfectly presented. All we had to do was turn up, everything was taken care of, to a very high standard. If there were any minor hiccups, they were sorted out immediately with the minimum of fuss. If you chose this venue, you will be able to really relax and enjoy your day, knowing ever detail will be taken care of.

A beautiful setting for a wedding, with the Church right next door and beautiful scenery all around. We really want to thank all the staff at the hotel for being so thoughtful, polite and friendly. Sam, Silvia and Gareth helped to guide us through the whole process of planning the wedding, coming up with good ideas and lovely touches. The food was great, the function room ideal and the bedrooms nicely decorated. Our family and friends all commented on what a great hotel this was and how nice all the staff had been. We really would recommend the Mercure Parkside as the perfect wedding venue.

We got married here on the 15th November 2015, all in all everything with the wedding went perfectly. Charly the wedding co-ordinator was brilliant in the lead up to the wedding and we couldn't thank Gareth the banqueting manager enough on the day. He was amazing!

Myself and Guy had our wedding here in September. It was an amazing day, made better by the fantastic staff at the hotel. Charly the wedding coordinator and the team made sure everything went smoothly. The bridal suite is beautiful and all of our guests said hor fabulous the rooms were. The hot evening buffet was great. I would highly recommend this gorgeous venue.

The hotel itself is tucked away in one of the most peaceful and beautiful locations in Milton Keynes, meaning it was our first and only choice for the Wallace lego wedding. However, what really made our day perfect was the hotel staff! I was truly touched by their dedication and ongoing efforts to ensure everything was amazingly flawless. We decided on this venue for our daughters wedding August 3rd 2012. I just have got to say how pleased we are at our choice. The whole event was handled so well. All the staff without exception were fantastic. Our special thanks go to Nicola and Barry for all their help. All our friends have said it's the best wedding they have attended.
