Our Perfect Venue

What an amazing venue, Shirna and Jess couldn't do more for us and nothing was too much. We knew on our first visit that this was the venue for us.

They helped us plan the day and gave us lists of recommended local suppliers (all who we used were brilliant) and things we needed to do at different times, to make sure we stayed on top of our wedding prep. For someone who had no idea about wedding logistics this was so helpful.

We met with the chef to discuss our meal options and came up with the most delicious wedding menu, so many compliments from our guests on how incredible the food was. For anyone reading this who is interested our main meals were beef wellington, mushroom wellington and duck breast. These were as delicious on the day as they were at our tasting meal (few pics attached).

We hired the whole hotel for the day with 70 guests for the day and 120 in the evening. I was slightly worried it might be a bit cramped but actually it wasn't at all and everyone stayed together, danced, drank and ate cake!

We had a few children with us during the day, ages from 18months to 15years and they were as looked after as all the adults.

Our wedding was in March so we didn't expect glorious weather but we managed a confetti photo and some of just the two of us outside. We then had a few family photos in the library when the rain came.

The rooms were all lovely, I stayed in room 4 the night before the wedding, and room 15 the night of the wedding, both beautiful and spacious. It was lovely to get ready in the hotel the morning of the wedding (highly recommend this to brides), with a big enough room to have all my bridesmaids in with me.

The staff on the day were incredible and they made the day run so smoothly, we didn't need to worry about anything and could fully embrace our wedding day.

Without a doubt the right choice for our wedding and anyone considering the Horn of Plenty as a venue you won't regret it. Beautiful scenery, wonderful staff, great food and having the whole hotel to ourselves, we couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect wedding.

Perfect intimate wedding

We couldn’t have been more pleased with our intimate wedding at the Horn of Plenty - breathtaking views, incredible wedding planners, fantastic food.

Our wedding was planned pretty speedily and Jess & Shirna provided brilliant support in the lead up to our big day, no question was too small and were so helpful (even providing a list of recommended local suppliers who had worked at the venue before ((all incredible). We viewed another venue nearby before, but our tour with Jess was so detailed and was reassured that the venue would make our day super special, there was no contest.

Our wedding day being in Feb 2024, did mean that rain was very much a part of the day. But in all honestly, the views are so spectacular it really wouldn’t have matter what the weather was and this really came through in our photos. There are so many great spots to get those special couple shots on the grounds.

The rooms were all amazing and our guests were very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was a real treat and without requesting they even made a table for us all to sit together before our guests began their travels home.

The day itself ran so smoothly and all the staff were so kind and helpful.

Would 100% recommend!

Magical Micro Wedding Venue

No request or detail was an issue to Shirna and the Wedding Team. Our day was amazing. We live nearby and love this venue and visit often. The views are stunning. The food is delicious, and the hotel has a variety of rooms to suit all needs, with comfort in abundance. This was important to us, due to elderly parents with mobility issues and young grand daughters, under 5yrs of age. Linda at A Scent-Sation (The Flower Shop) in Tavistock, created beautiful floral bouquets and delivered to the venue. Pete Daniel Photography, Bere Alston, organised us all and provided us with amazing digital "for ever" pictorial memories. We are truly thankful to everyone who made our Wedding Day so very special.

Ultimate wedding venue - can't recommend more highly!

The Horn of Plenty hosted us for our wedding in August 2022! As well as the location, setting, hotel and grounds being utterly beautiful. Shirna, Mia and the whole team at the Horn of Plenty also went above and beyond to ensure our day both ran smoothly and was perfect! Not to forget, the food was absolutely sublime and we still have lots of friends and family commenting on how perfect the whole day was!! We cannot wait to return to celebrate many anniversaries at the Horn of Plenty and we can't thank them enough!!!

Upsetting and disappointing

We booked this venue in 2023 after reading all the great reviews, little did we know it had just been taking over but different people. So as for all of the awards for fine dining ignore them! the food couldn’t have been worse how you can over cook a steak and serve it cold is beyond me. Soup was cold and poured over one of my guests and to top it off the next day at breakfast i had orange juice poured all over me. Most of the staff were really rude and we were made to feel like we were in the way constantly, not what you expect on your wedding day. We did only book the venue out till five so even though we had booked eight of our 16 rooms, we were then ushered out and told to go upstairs even though my stepchildren were playing a game of chess, they were told to carry it upstairs midway through their game, because the 2 other guests, we’re obviously more important then us. We were made to feel like we were just in the way the whole time we were there and that includes the night before where the steak was actually better than it was on my wedding day, we were told that they wouldn’t do a medium well steak because the chef wouldn’t cook a well done steak which is ironic considering mine came out overcooked when I’d asked for it to be rare. on the wedding day it wasn’t even a fillet steak which is what we had payed for, I would call it more of a medallion it was very poor. This was the feeling that all of my guest came away with, which is really upsetting that, thats how my wedding day is going be remembered. This is such a shame because the venue is absolutely beautiful and the views are stunning.

Beautiful setting - wonderful day!

We do not live locally to the venue so were doing everything by phone/email etc. But Shirna and her team were always responsive to messages and we always felt that our wedding was in 'safe hands' . Nothing was too much trouble for us or our guests - everyone was taken care of, including two elderly family members with wheelchairs. Our guests were so impressed with our choice of venue, and as the weather was so lovely, it made it just perfect. The views are stunning and the sunset was so beautiful down the valley.

Fantastic all round

The team at the Horn of Plenty were fantastic all the way through our wedding process, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and fun. It was clear from our first meeting that the team here was the most "on it" of all the venues we visited and they ensured everything ran as smoothly as possible on the day itself, from managing suppliers and setting up the venue to delivering amazing food and keeping us to time. The venue is also in a stunning location which delivered the perfect backdrop for our wedding.

A magical day!

We just wanted to say thank you so much for everything you did to make our day so special. From shouldering my wedding nerves and stress, to impeccable spreadsheet organisation, to donning wellies and wet weather gear to humour our bizarre outdoorsy needs, you guys were truly something special to behold. Everyone commented on how lovely, polite and efficient your team were. The food was on point, Michelin standard in our view, the organisation faultless, the surroundings just gorgeous, even more so in the rain! We had the most magical day, thank you to everyone who played their part to make our day so beautiful, from kitchen, to reception, to housekeeping to co- ordination. We are truly grateful. So many of guests want to return for their own romantic weekend away. We certainly will each year for our anniversary and all other special occasions, its become a favourite place of our family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Amazing wedding venue

Absolutely stunning venue with great food. Everyone was incredibly friendly throughout the organisation and on the day. Nothing was too much and they were always happy to answer the many questions that come up in organising a wedding! We got to have a meeting with the chef to design our menu and then a meal and wine taster which was amazing!

On the day (and the day before and after) everything was sorted for us so we didn't have to worry about a thing - nothing was too much trouble.

We had such an amazing day that we will never forget and look forward to visiting The Horn of Plenty again in the future!

A special place, with a special team

On our first look round The Horn of Plenty Julie asked what we were looking for on our special day. My response was a worry free wedding day, and that’s exactly what they gave us, priceless. The staff are caring and attentive and invested in your day and that came through on every visit we made to the hotel. The food is second to none and this came through to us by all of the comments and feedback we got from our guests both during and after the wedding. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Horn of Plenty as a wedding venue. We booked to go back for our first anniversary as we checked out as a married couple.

A beautiful setting, with wonderful service

We had a church wedding in May 2021, followed by our reception at the Horn of Plenty (exclusive use of the venue for our party of 30 guests).

From the initial look around to the day itself, full marks for communication! Shirna and the team were very accommodating with all aspects of our big day, especially what with the ever changing coronavirus rules at that time.
The food was amazing - the chef designed a special menu based around our favourite foods. We had several special requirements and all of these were catered for without any fuss.
The service on the day was fantastic - all of the staff were very polite and seemed as though they genuinely enjoyed their jobs, which is always a good sign!
We used the summer room area for the sit down meal which was brilliant - the view was stunning and it was a warm day so we were glad that the windows/doors could be opened.
We had the speeches outside under the trees but the fountain, which worked really well.
The grounds are so stunning, so we had some amazing photos. It was a great space for the children to explore too.
The guests raved about the lovely rooms and several have said they will be booking in for special occasions in the future.
Thank you again to all of the team, who really helped take some of the stress away. We feel so lucky to have picked a venue with such amazing amenities, food and staff.

Perfect wedding

We had our wedding here in July this year. It was everything we dreamed of! From the beginning the venue had been perfect with Mia and Shira being detailed orientated and ensuring I had all of my questions answered within a timely manner. We were able to visit the venue a few times around the COVID lockdowns and this made the experience even better. The day before the wedding we had a hand over meeting that ensured all of the details for the wedding were set and that Mia and Shira took over everything to ensure that we all details were handled by themselves and we didn't have to worry about anything. we had around 30 people stay over the night before and had an informal meal with them all to start the celebrations off early, this was a lovely way to start of the wedding weekend. We had our ceremony on the lawn and it was perfect with the view and the weather we honestly couldn't have asked for a better day. With the weather being so good everyone went and sat under the big tree once the ceremony was finished with their drinks. We had around 70 people to the wedding day and this was perfect for us. The food was absolutely perfect and we had so many compliments about it all! In the evening it was nice to spread in the hotel and outside with the sun setting it was perfect. The next morning we had breakfast with all our guests who stayed the night. Mia and Shira ensured the whole wedding was exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend the horn of plenty to anyone looking for a wedding venue with a view, great wedding planners who ensure your every need and want is met, incredible food and lovely atmosphere.
