Situated on the beautiful Northumberland coast, The Barn on The Bay enjoys unspoilt views of both coast and country. The only venue to offer a beachside ceremony overlooking the stunning Druridge Bay. Licensed for civil ceremonies, you can also choose to say your vows in the barn or the paddock.
Based at Hemscott Hill Farm, a working farm right next to the beach. The barn is a stones throw from a seven mile stretch of sandy bay. Walk or take a vintage tractor ride to your ceremony spot.
The Cowshed Wedding Barn is complete with bales and tables, a fully stocked bar, cocktail horsebox and chill out spaces. Up to 250 guests can party the night away. The covered verandah is a great spot to enjoy your drinks reception.
As well as the barn and the bay the courtyard and paddock are great areas to set up garden games and pop open the champagne. The Old Dog & Duck vintage horsebox bar will provide your courtyard drinks. The farm alpacas are available to turn up at your wedding and mingle with your guests too, they're pretty unforgettable though so might just steal the show!
You can make a weekend of it too. Calico Barn sleeps up to 18, plus there's a shepherd's hut, beachside camping and a cottage too. You can even add teepees!
In The Barn on The Bay you'll find a laid back, friendly and inclusive, family run venue. Dogs belonging to the couple are welcome and you can bring your own suppliers. Hire the venue for the day or the whole weekend, ask us to provide food or bring your own caterers, it's totally up to you.

Quirky, do-it yourself, beach wedding venue.
Barn on the Bay is a gorgeous venue to get married at. The weather played its part on our day and things could not have been more perfect!Sent on 18/07/2021
The lead up:
We booked the venue 2 years in advance, before the pandemic. Despite the uncertainty of the times the venue worked hard to keep things going in the background. There was never any doubt that Barn on the Bay was going to pull through the pandemic as a business, especially with some of the investments they have made such as on rentable and fixed rustic decor and extending their wedding window from spring/summer to all year round.
The last few weeks:
This was when things were really nerve wracking. The restrictions were due to be lifted in June but then were extended. The Barn on the Bay showed us round the day after the extension announcement and Nicola, Alison and Phil were all very reassuring. Despite COVID limiting how much face to face contact you can have with the team, rest assured they are very professional and organised. Communication via email can be difficult in general, on the whole Barn on the Bay were pretty good at answering promptly and satisfactorily - I say pretty good because for some things you just cant't beat a face to face chat for! Nicola was very good at calling us when we felt things weren't so clear via email.
We were blown away by the venue's organisation on the day. If there were any hitches, we as the bride and groom were unaware of them which shows the staff were working hard behind the scenes. They liaised with our vendors, musicians, photographers and we have not had any negative feedback from them. The tables, our rented place mats and the drinks package glassware were all spotless and in place when our family arrived to decorate the barn. The drinks service was slick and professional.
A few minor things to note:
This is a do it yourself venue so set up has to be done by the wedding party (although the staff do help a bit in the morning).
The Barn does not offer a Master of Ceremonies type role, but on the day Alison is on hand and keeps things moving.
There is a PA system in the barn but the microphone can be a bit hit and miss!
We got married on the dunes and rented a portable wireless PA system for the music as the Barn on the Bay does not provide this.
Overall a fantastic location, dream like wedding and fabulous day all round! Thank you!
