Award winning Stockton House is an elegant wedding venue situated near Shifnal, Shropshire in central England. The panoramic views of the magnificent trees, rolling hills, and expansive skies offer a breathtaking backdrop to any special event. Built in 1702 as a Rectory to the church of St Chads just 100 yards down the lane, Stockton House has been a family home for over 300 years. Today couples can celebrate their nuptials in a luxurious venue that offers a contemporary setting with a historic background.
Facilities and Capacity
This venue evokes feelings of elegance in a highly sophisticated atmosphere. The property boasts breathtaking surroundings where couples and their guests can celebrate the wedding of their dreams. Nestled in 8,500 acres of Shropshire countryside on the Apley Estate, Stockton House is steeped in history and boasts a stylish Georgian design. Stockton House offers seven luxurious double bedrooms, along with a 100-seater secret walled garden dining room, all expertly designed to take in the breathtaking views and surrounding scenery. This property will play host to numerous elegant countryside weddings both indoors and outdoors. Upon entering the house, couples will be received in the reception hall. Here, the to-be-weds and their guests can enjoy a drinks reception surrounded by classic large oil canvas paintings and antique furniture. A dining space behind the walled gardens can be accessed through large double doors. Guests will be greeted by a beautifully designed dining space with an elegant curved ceiling and orangery-style windows overlooking the rear gardens. Designed to host wedding breakfasts, this private area is ideal for mingling and chatting with friends and family.

Incredibly special - an unbeatable venue
In only my wildest dreams did I ever think I could get married in a place as gorgeous as Stockton. Our wedding day, 31/5/25, was exactly that - a dream come true.
Stockton is beautiful - each space perfectly designed and each room effortlessly elegant. But what you see in the stunning photos of Stockton is only a fraction of what makes it so special.
The Stockton team is like no other. Amy is the most incredible person - warm, kind and completely genuine. At every stage, and even when the anxiety kicked in, we were met with nothing but positivity and excitement - we had complete trust in her. Amy was my biggest cheerleader from day one; I felt truly valued and understood. I honestly couldn’t have left that bridal suite without her by my side.
Tom’s food needs no introduction - he just got it. Exactly what we wanted and even better than we could have imagined. Our bespoke menu was some of the most delicious food we’ve ever had, and I lie awake some nights regretting that I didn’t eat enough of it on our wedding day. Thankfully our guests did, and we had rave reviews from all.
Ellie and Hayley were integral parts of our wedding, in both the lead up and on the day - true professionals and the most lovely people. The housekeepers, Mandy and Sue, maintain Stockton to the highest standard, but they go so far beyond that. Theirs were the two smiliest faces early in the morning on the day of our wedding, and I will never forget the much-needed hug from Mandy the morning after when the post-wedding nerves took hold. The waiting and bar staff were also exceptional, and represented Stockton perfectly - Lizzie and Freya were standouts.
Stockton House really is the most special place, where we made memories to last a lifetime - we wish we could do it all over again.
If there are any other brides out there doubting whether you are worthy of a venue like this, you must arrange a visit - Amy and her team will show you that you are.

Could not imagine our day having been anywhere else!
Absolutely stunning venue, an incredible team of people who are all so knowledgeable about not only the venue but also every single element you might want in your day! Also they have very close links with vendors with whom they work on a regular basis so they can direct you for every single thing you might need - literally every one of our vendors were initially met at a Stockton House showcase, or directed to by Amy.
There are so, so many highlights for this venue but the stand outs are:
- Use of the entire venue for the full weekend - it is basically like having your own staffed house.
- The option for a bespoke menu which you talk through with Tom the chef, he was able to accommodate our entirely plant based menu without any issue whatsoever.
- Amy is the bottom line - if she says you can have it, you can have it! There was absolutely nothing we asked for that was not accommodated, and Amy knows everything about the venue so often would suggest a slight tweak that would work better, or had done it before and had mastered it already.
- Mandy & Sue - essential part of the team that were there from the afternoon on the Friday until the Sunday morning, ensuring we were very well looked after.
Cannot recommend this beautiful venue and team highly enough - incredible setting, incredible service from the very first visit until the morning we left as a married couple.
A dream come true!
All of the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect before, during and after our wedding. They were so attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about making our day as special as possible. We felt so taken care of, and it truly made the whole experience stress-free.
The food was absolutely delicious! Chef Tom put in so much effort and we could tell, we couldn't have asked for a better wedding breakfast.
Stockton really helped make our wedding a dream come true. If you’re looking for a beautiful, romantic venue with impeccable service, look no further! We feel so lucky to have had our big day here and will always treasure the memories. Highly recommend to anyone!

The Best!!
Tom the chefs food is out of this world, so many wedding guests said it’s the best food they’ve ever eaten.
Stockton House offers so much flexibility, they give you the venue for the entire weekend so setting up is much more relaxing than other venues.
We truly had the best day of our lives and this is down to Amy and the Stockton team, we can’t thank you enough.
A dream wedding venue
We visited nearly 20 venues across the Midlands before making our choice, and the Stockton House team were by far the most welcoming, caring and professional group of people we encountered.
Amy, Ellie, Tom, M&S and the rest of the team were fantastic on the run up to our wedding and went above and beyond to ensure our day ran as smoothly as possible. They remembered so many tiny personal details that made us feel so special on the day - we don’t believe any other venue would ever take this much care in getting to know their couples.
From the incredible food, beautiful decor and wonderful team, if our day is anything to go by, you will not be disappointed when choosing Stockton House for your wedding venue!
