Amazing Wedding Venue!
We decided to go with Ashton Lodge as our wedding venue, and we’re so glad we did! We made our booking after attending several open days. The venue itself is gorgeous, a very stylish backdrop for a wedding with lots of indoor space and outdoor gardens to spread out in across the day, especially on a sunny June afternoon. The exclusive use really helps to keep the day intimate.
After making our booking we were able to keep in touch constantly, with Claire & the planning team emailing to answer any little queries we had. We were invited to several planning meetings to go through things together and shape our ideas – even when the bride had to attend via video call, they were incredibly helpful to make sure she remained included and up to speed. The team were also very accommodating to our ideas – we included flower dudes, bubble blowing and axe throwing entertainment for our guests, which went down a treat . We were further invited to a food tasting evening to help us get an idea of what we wanted to serve on the day, which was a lovely extra touch.
On the day itself everything ran smoothly, it was perfect! We were able to drop in the day before to help set up a few decorations, which saved a lot of stress on the day itself. The bride and her bridesmaids were able to get ready from 9am in the dressing room. Claire and the wedding team were on hand throughout to help with set-up and arrivals, helped to direct our guests and get them comfortable. We had around seventy guests on the day which Ashton lodge suited perfectly, the ceremony room was full but not overcrowded, and the marque similarly felt full but still had plenty of space for our guests to move around in during the wedding breakfast. The onsite accommodation was incredibly useful, each of the rooms was well-furnished and comfortable, and allowed some of our guests to rest through the day when they needed to.
All the food across the day was amazing – we opted for the redwood meat platters for the wedding breakfast and pizzas for the evening. The portion sizes were perfect and the taste amazing; we had lots of good feedback from our guests. Service throughout the day was spot on – the staff even came to myself and the bride in the evening to bring us our own pizzas, which was a lovely extra touch.
Many thanks go to our evening host Sam, who was super friendly and helpful throughout the day, he was a massive hit with all our guests and was able to help with anything we needed on the day; and to our event manager Claire, who went above and beyond on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly – checking in with us constantly, liaising with our suppliers so they were able to setup correctly, even little details like helping guests with their buttonholes, and flicking the brides train to make it flow right as she walked down the aisle.

This was the first venue we saw, and after looking at 6 others, it was by far the nicest. As a budget conscious couple, although this venue was not the cheapest we looked at, you definitely get what you pay for. The venue is also exclusive use, so you really feel like you're getting the staff's full attention, and your day won't be intruded upon by other hotel guests. On their website they have a calculator where you can get a good idea of what your day will cost (bearing in mind food prices may increase slightly), which we highly valued!
Our day-of coordinator Mia was excellent, and she was also the one we met with in our planning meetings. She was very professional, thought of everything, and guided us through the day expertly, making sure we never needed to worry about anything. We also deferred to her experienced opinion in planning when it came down to details we didn't have an opinion on (such as what beer to serve as neither of us drink it!) which was very helpful. The team has done a lot of weddings, and you can really tell they know what they're doing. The venue itself was gorgeous, with lovely countryside views (lots of beautiful locations for couple's photos) while still being relatively easy to reach.
The food was excellent. The groom wishes to emphasise: not just good from a "mass-catered" standard, but to a restaurant standard, impressive when serving 80 people! We had the relaxed menu, and our guests loved the fun interactive element of carving the meat themselves at the table (chefs' hats provided by the venue :D). We also had 3 canapes which they made sure we would be able to have on the day, and pizza from their outdoor pizza oven in the evening which they also put in our room. We went with the house drinks package, which provided plenty of wine and the bride really enjoyed the prosecco. The bar also had reasonable prices, and friendly staff. We also went for the fire pit and s'mores which went down well with our guests (and particularly the groom).
The few gripes we had were that there's no lift, so guests who are staying with mobility issues might have difficulty reaching their room, especially as there are none on the ground floor. There's also an extra cost if you want to have your wedding outside, which can then be moved inside on the day by the registrar (that's true at any venue though), and you would also have to hire your own furniture if you were having an outdoor wedding. Finally, there a couple of niggles in the planning stages, such as limited flexibility on meeting times, and overly detailed information requirements about guests with dietary requirements. However, none of these issues overshadowed a truly incredible day.
Overall we felt very well looked after, and they were really focussed on making sure that we and our guests had a wonderful day. We would absolutely recommend them in the future. -

Ashton Lodge Country House was the most amazing venue for our wedding day on 30th September 2023. The communication from the beginning was great, the planning meetings with Claire and Mia were so helpful for getting an idea of how the day would run; and the tasting evening was a great chance to taste some of the food we could pick from. On the day itself everything ran so smoothly and a big thanks has to go to Mia for making that happen, she made sure everything ran on time, that we had drinks and food when we needed them, she was so attentive and helpful in every aspect of the day. If you are looking for a lovely countryside wedding venue with lots of space, great guest accommodation (breakfast included), we couldn’t recommend Ashton Lodge Country House enough -

WOW what a venue I honestly can’t say enough about this venue and the staff everything from the moment we booked to the morning after was amazing, Mia was incredible she made me feel so calm on the day and really helped me to chill out always making sure we’d eaten and had a drink I can’t say thank you enough! Ashton lodge is absolutely stunning it’s so beautiful I wish I could relive the whole day again 🥰 Thank you so much from the new Mr and Mrs Trevitt we loved every second of our day. -

From viewing the venue to the big day Ashton lodge we’re fantastic. All the staff were helpful especially Claire who met with us and Mia who ran our day. They both went above and beyond. The food was delicious and our guests commented on how much they enjoyed their food and the service. We can’t recommend ashton lodge enough. We had the best day ever! -

We had an amazing wedding at a brilliant venue. The location was amazing and the staff could not do enough for us. We loved every second of our wedding day at Ashton Lodge as the team there made it very special. We would recommend this venue and the incredible staff, don’t look anywhere else . -

Fabulous wedding day!
We got married at Ashton Lodge last week, our day was everything we wanted and more! The staff, a special mention to Karen, made sure the lead up and day ran smoothly! We got married at Ashton Lodge on the 18th June 2022. From our first virtual tour we loved the venue and knew it was perfect for us. We wanted a fun, romantic, informal relaxed day and that is exactly what we got. All the staff are amazing, so helpful and reassuring, they made sure everything ran smoothly from our first meeting to the day after our wedding. We had a very sudden unexpected family bereavement 3 months before and they were so understanding and didn’t rush us, we were very greatful for their understanding and compassion at a very difficult time. The house and grounds are beautiful and the food was amazing, we couldn’t have asked for anything else. Alot of our guests have commented it’s the best wedding they’ve been to which is a testament to the hard work of all the team at Ashton Lodge. We thank you all for a day to remember and would definitely recommend anyone get married at this venue.
