Pelham House is a historic wedding venue located in East Sussex, England. It is a beautiful 16th-century townhouse that was recently transformed into a luxurious wedding venue. Combining the opulence of a country manor with the finesse of a private club, it is the ideal spot for a lavish wedding celebration.
Facilities and Capacity
Pelham House is situated in the heart of Lewes, just over an hour from central London and 25 minutes from Brighton. It has everything from event rooms with ornate original features and striking lighting to tranquil gardens framed by the rolling countryside of East Sussex. To start your day at this venue, you might get ready in their luxurious dressing room, hidden away in The Courthope Mews. For an intimate ceremony, the romantic Goring room is ideal. Featuring original bay windows, it lets in floods of natural light and offers colourful garden views. In warmer months, you might exchange vows al fresco in the gorgeous flower-lined Gazebo. After your ceremony, you can host your champagne reception inside the manor house, where a sweeping staircase stands beneath a striking hand-painted trompe-l'œil ceiling mural. For an evening of food and entertainment, the Blencowe Room with grand marble pillars and intricate original wood panelling is sure to dazzle your guests. This room is also used to host breakfast. Outdoor celebrations can be held in the Garden Room or on the terrace as the sun goes down.

A million percent would recommend!
From start to finish Pelham House have been amazing! Our coordinator Danielle was amazing and professional on the day. Everyone knew exactly where to go and what to do. She put up with me requesting multiple meetings and check ins and I felt confident having her organise our day. The venue itself is STUNNING. It’s modern, elegant and classy. All the staff there are lovely and so kind and helpful. Wish we could do it all over again.

Amazing day at Pelham House
Very happy with our choice of Pelham house for our wedding venue, a lovely building with lots of space but still feels very intimate. The team were very helpful and the day ran smoothly, we really appreciated the little touches like leaving pizza in our room at the end of the night. The food was excellent and we've had lots of comments from guests to say how much they enjoyed it. Thank you very much to the entire team at Pelham House!

Dream Wedding
We had our dream wedding at Pelham House, it has everything we could have hoped for and more, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to Dani & the team for an incredible day!
For nearly 3 years (yes, a long time) Dani helped us with the planning of our wedding, she and the rest of the team are super responsive and friendly, we never had to chase them up.
We absolutely fell in love with Pelham from the moment we first visited, we knew it was the venue for us. It is stunning inside and in a beautiful historic location. Everything is catered for in house, from the food to the drinks, coordination to accommodation, on top of this they are exclusively a wedding venue. No other venue in Sussex could offer this.
All of our guests complimented the wedding, even saying it was the best they'd been too which was a HUGE compliment and reflection of Pelham House. The food was outstanding - that was the biggest feedback we had. They catered so well for all of the dietary requirements, our vegetarian guests were so happy with their meals. The wood fired pizzas also went down a treat in the evening!
From start to finish it was the best day of our lives, we didn't want it to end. Pelham House will always have a very special place in our hearts. I cannot say enough that if you want the most incredible wedding day, Pelham House is your venue!

The perfect venue in a quaint town!
Pelham House is the venue to go for if you want a place that does it all! Special shout-out goes to our wedding event manager India Carr and the rest of the Pelham House team.
Her and the rest of the team made us feel so taken care of, the planning of the wedding in 8 months (That's right!) was actually quite stress free!
The team were always responsive in answering our abundance of questions and really made sure both the night before and the day itself went smoothly.
Their flexible room booking policy really helped us make the decision for this venue as well. The ability to book only the number of rooms you needed on the night of the wedding and then share the link for guests to book themselves in relieved soo much stress and financial burden from us.
The venue was everything we were looking for. A beautiful entrance hall, gorgeous ceremony room, open and secluded garden, modern chic bar and the breakfast room was otherworldly. They have a list of recommended suppliers which I would wholly recommend as it gave us the exact look we didn't even know what we were looking for.

Our wedding was the best day of our lives, thanks to Danielle Turner who was the best event planner. She was so professional and helpful and became a big part of our day. Not only did she help so much with our planning, she was just such a calm and happy person to have around on your wedding day. We had singing waiters and she helped us coordinate all of it so everything ran smoothly. Everything is done on a planner form with the organisation and it works perfectly to ensure nothing is missed. We dropped all of our stuff first thing and we gave Dani instructions for everything and there was not one thing out of place. Pelham house is such a beautiful venue, we had our ceremony outside which was my dream for the day; and it was stunning. We really will never forget the help that Pelham gave us and all of Danielle’s help. The waiting staff were wonderful and our food was out of this world. We had the pizza oven around 9pm and that was incredible too!

Wedding of our dreams!
Thank you Pelham for giving us the most magical day. Everyone complimented how beautiful the house and grounds are and Pelham worked exceptionally hard on the day to ensure we got everything we wanted and our guests were looked after. During the planning stage they were very responsive and while they can appear strict with some of the planning, it helped keep the day right and everything ran like clockwork. Thank you so very much!

Fantastic venue made a wonderful day
Pelham House is a stunning venue and we absolutely made the right decision to go with it as the venue for our wedding. As they are purpose built for event hosting, the team is so well organised and having everything in one place from the ceremony, to the food, and accommodation was so convenient, especially for older family members and those with disabled accessibility needs. India, our event manager, was excellent, discussing our plans at lengths with us, from options of catering, known vendors, price tiers etc. She was also fantastic on the day, helping the running of events and coordination of vendors etc. The other staff were also so lovely and helpful, from the catering, serving, organising teams etc. and were always around to help and answer any questions/needs. The food and drink was all delicious and we were glad with went with Pelham’s own catering, which again made everything that much more straightforward. Having our ceremony in June, we opted for an outside ceremony which was beautiful, but knowing there was also an inside ceremony space allowed extra peace of mind. The overally layout, rooms, and outside space at the venue are stunning it’s like being in a country manor and you can’t believe you’re so close to the centre of Lewes. Thank you so much Pelham House team for making our day so special!

Incredible day
I can’t thank Pelham house anymore for giving us the most incredible day. From the first visit to view the venue, to leaving the day after a the wedding. Everything run so smooth throughout the day of the wedding, everything on time and just how great the staff were. The food was fantastic, the venue just speaks for itself. I can’t speak highly enough how incredible the venue and the team at Pelham house are.

Wonderful wedding
Pelham house have been great from start to finish. First of all, the venue is gorgeous, all the rooms are beautiful, the gardens are stunning, but if you've toured it you know that!
The team are great. I've written countless emails to them over the last year ranging from really stupid questions to panicked ones and they've always responded within a day with an answer, I felt very cared for.
The food was wonderful, and they take great care with allergies and intolerances, I had a big mix of guests who can't eat certain things (vegans, veggies, gluten free, random allergies, and even a friend who can't eat onions or garlic) and everyone got a complete (and good) meal with their requirements.
A full service team who will do what they can to make the day perfect, working behind the scenes to prevent you ever knowing if anything went wrong! Took initiative and when we failed to provide direction for certain things they knew exactly what to do and didn't have to bother us with questions.
Thanks to the Pelham house team for a perfect day!

Perfect all-rounder!
Such a great experience having our wedding at Pelham. The team were always so responsive and helpful, and nothing felt like too much or an inconvenience for them. The food was incredible, and the staff were so professional. Isla, our coordinator, was incredible and made sure we were constantly happy.

Beautiful Venue
We had our wedding here in April 2022 and it was absolutely perfect. The weather was great so we got married in the gardens which were so bright and colourful. I cannot fault any of the staff, the waiters were very professional and Isla our events manager was amazing, she couldn't have done any more on the day to help and was always around when we needed something. Also mention to Charli who was our contact before going on maternity leave. We cannot recommend this venue highly enough

The best day at the most amazing venue
From the moment we first visited Pelham House, we fell in love with the venue. In the lead up to the wedding they were happy to answer any questions we had and were flexible with requests (allowing us to have an afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast). The day went smoothly with no hiccups. India (our wedding organiser) was amazing, she made sure everyone was in the right place at the right time and put us both at ease throughout. So many guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and how perfect the day was. We were lucky enough to get married on a sunny day and make use of the amazing gardens for our ceremony. All of the staff at Pelham house were very friendly and accommodating. We had the best day in the most amazing venue.
