Pauntley Court offers exclusive use, from a Friday until a Sunday, for you and 22 family and friends, across 10 beautiful bedrooms. Grand in nature and intimate by design, it is perfect for the smaller weddings up to 40. Mid week Elopements are also very special in this tranquil haven in Gloucestershire.
Pauntley Court is a family owned private estate in Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Cotswolds. This much-loved Grade II listed house boasts a warm, characterful and charming atmosphere. Set in 20 acres of grounds with stunning, magical formal gardens, a tennis court, croquet lawn and a petanque court, Pauntley Court is a hidden gem. The lake, with its resident swans and the rolling countryside beyond, allow for the perfect back drop for your photographer to capture the Big Day in all its glory.
It is a secluded and very beautiful 'home from home' venue, that can be exclusively yours for a whole weekend, from midday on Friday to the Sunday afternoon, sleeping up to 22 of your guests across the 10 gorgeous bedrooms. It is also the Birthplace of the real Dick Whittington!
Pauntley Court specialises in exclusive, intimate and bespoke weekend weddings, as well as mid-week Elopements. They also offer a limited number of large weddings each year with a marquee style of your choice.
Facilities and Capacity
As you crest the hill, you will just glimpse the house, with its unique pinkish-reddish glow, nestled amongst trees with only a Norman Church and The Dovecote as its neighbours.
For your marraige ceremony, there is the Norman church next door, only a stone's throw or there are two indoor licensed spaces; the light-filled Ballroom for up to 40 people or the cosy Panelled Room for up to 20 people. For an outdoor ceremony, choose from one of 6 stunning outdoor licensed garden spaces. A celebrant-led ceremony could be down by the lake or out between the yew hedges with incredible views out across the Leadon Valley.
Afterwards, why not have drinks and canapes overlooking the sunken garden with its clipped box and yew hedges, medlar trees and ornamental pond. Perhaps enjoy a game of croquet and petanque with your friends and family, followed by a stroll down to the lake.
For your wedding breakfast, dine under the fabulous hornbeam arches and feel like you are in Italy or France, or alternatively choose to feast under the glittering chandeliers in the elegant Ballroom for your wedding breakfast.
The Tentickle stretch tent, situated on one of the flat formal lawns, could also provide a brilliant canopy for your bar and reception drinks or as an outdoor dining space, should the weather be inclement on your big day.
Dance and laugh the night away in the Ballroom and enjoy cocktails and drinks at the 'Wild Duck Bar' in the Panelled room in front of the open fire. As newly weds, you can then retire whenever you wish, to the private wing of the house, Elinor Fettiplace. Close family and friends will be staying on site too, in our beautiful, individually-designed bedrooms in the Main House and Dovecote.
You and up to 22 close family and friends can arrive on the Friday at midday and make yourself at home, have tea in the gardens and a pre-wedding dinner on the terrace or the Flower Room. You and your guests will have exclusive use of this private estate, until Sunday afternoon, a whole weekend in this country house and private idyll.

Meet the team
Melissa is the wonderful, kind Venue Owner at Pauntley Court, which is also her family home. She is known for her big smile and is passionate about Pauntley. Melissa gives personal viewings to couples where she not only shows you around the house, garden and grounds but also will tell you about the fascinating history of Pauntley Court.
She is married to Mark and has three children, Sorrel, Mungo and Clemmie. She is very busy running the venue, but when she is not working, she enjoys practising calligraphy, reading, walking her dog (Fennel) and spending time with her mother (The Flower Fairy).
Rachel is our fabulous housekeeper who goes above and beyond for you and your guests. Whether it is making the beds for your arrival or cooking you brunch on Sunday morning before you depart, nothing is ever too much trouble for Rachel. She is a fountain of all knowledge about everything in the house and has been described by many guests as 'the jewel in Pauntley's crown'.
Rachel loves to spend time with her family. She is also a very creative person who enjoys painting and trying new crafts as well as lots of cooking and baking.
Christine is not only Melissa's mother but also Pauntley's very own Flower Fairy and Head Gardener. She meticulously takes care of the garden year-round and, during the wedding season, creates beautiful flower arrangements for each of the 10 bedrooms. Christine lived in The Main House at Pauntley Court for many years before Melissa and Mark moved in, so has planted a number of gardens from scratch and restored a few of the buildings, including The Dovecote.
When she is not tending to the garden, she loves to do dog agility with her Clumber Spaniel, Powder and going on outings with Melissa and her son, Ollie. She played the cello for many years and is very talented with interiors and her arts.
