Mill Hall is the perfect place to begin your married life. Formerly known as Greenham Lodge, the grade II listed building sits within 29 acres of stunning mature gardens, located to the south of Newbury racecourse. Steeped in history, with beautiful grounds and exceptional service from a professional team, Mill Hall has everything you could need for an unforgettable.

The impressive mock-Tudor mansion is a popular choice for parties and events. From lavish Victorian aristocratic balls to modern civil wedding celebrations, the venue can accommodate all manner of occasions.

The magnificent Great Hall spans two storeys with charming features such as the carved oak panelling, stained-glass window and an impressive, ornate fireplace. The room is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and can seat up to 100 guests to dine.

For smaller occasions, The Dining Room is ideal. Boasting the same quality of décor, with oak panelling and a superb fireplace, the space has an intimate and charming atmosphere for your wedding. The room is also licensed to hold civil ceremonies, and can accommodate up to 50 guests.

With an elegant plaster ceiling and spectacular views of the ground’s picturesque lake and waterfall, the Garden Room is perfect for dancing and celebrations. With a capacity of 60 seated guests, the room allow your event to flow out to the garden and patio.

You will have full access to the venues stunning grounds, including the charming mature lake. On occasion, our resident deer may even make an appearance!

By booking your wedding at Mill Hall, you are supporting a national charity working with profoundly deaf children in the UK. All of the proceeds from weddings held here go directly to the Mary Hare charity.

We got married on the 17th September 2016 at Mill Hall. The venue was absolutely beautiful, inside and out. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a fantastic day. The building and gardens are stunning and we were very lucky with the weather although the venue is so spacious that it wouldn't of mattered if it had rained! There is a play area for the kids outside and with several rooms to be used it is great for a large family wedding. The food was lovely and many of our guests commented on how great it was. I wouldn't change a thing!

We got married in August 2016 at Mill Hall and we could not imagine a better wedding day. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, inside and out. The great hall, where we had he ceremony and wedding breakfast, was absolutely beautiful with its grand features and wood panelled walls. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather so we went outside for the drinks reception and our guests loved the grounds - there was so much space for everyone to mingle and for the children to play. Throughout our wedding planning, and on the day, the service provided by the staff was absolutely excellent. They really went above and beyond to make our day special. The food was delicious and many of our guests commented on this. Having exclusive use of the venue really made it special, and we were able to set some things up the day before which was really useful. The icing on the cake is that the profits go to the Mary Hare Charity. Would highly recommend.

Where to even start! We had the best day of our lives at Mill Hall. The wedding coordinator Faye was absolutely wonderful to deal with and was prompt and professional with every query that we had. The catering manager Paul was absolutely outstanding. I had so many people tell me the food was the best at any wedding they had been to! We knew it was fabulous already - the tasting evening we had was incredible, Paul made so much food and it was all so good that we struggled to choose. The trio of desserts was a highlight for me! All the Mill Hall staff we had helping on the day were great, and special thanks to Fran and Natasha for overseeing everything. We were so thrilled with the venue, it rained a bit on the day but the sun came out just in time for reception drinks and we got some beautiful photos outside in the grounds, and then some shots inside too. I have to say the staircase and the windows upstairs make for some incredible pictures! The fact that the money from the wedding goes back in to what is clearly a wonderful school just made it all the more special. We can't thank Mill Hall enough for providing the perfect venue for our day- at a really reasonable price compared to other venues in Berkshire. Every single guest that came has genuinely said it was one of the best weddings they have attended- so thank you for helping us make our dreams a reality!!!

After being let down by another venue we were back to the search of finding a new venue for our wedding day. We then came across Mill Hall and were instantly pleased and relived we had lost our previous venue. Mill Hall suited us and our interests down to the ground. For a couple who love visiting National Trust Properties Mill Hall then made the obvious choice for our wedding day, with its character and charm and uniqueness. We had already decided on a church wedding so we only needed Mill Hall for our reception, which was no problem. From our first meeting with Faye the wedding co-ordinator to the day itself her support , guidance and help couldn’t have been more appreciated. We don’t live in Newbury itself anymore so planning a wedding an hour away from where we life was already a tricky task. Faye made this no issue and was always happy to email and answer the many questions we had along the way, nothing was too much trouble for her. When it came to the catering of the wedding Paul and his team were amazing. The food tasting is a must and reviews and Faye recommend not to eat before, don’t! Paul makes so many options and food for the tasting, lunch was even sorted for the next day. I myself have a food intolerance and we had many guests with food allergies and intolerances. This too was no problem or issue for Paul and he made me feel very special and not a nuisance. Everyone on the day was very complimentary of the food. I can’t recommend Mill Hall and their team enough to anyone, our wedding day was truly the best day it could have been and a very special and memorable day.

This review is long overdue, but I just wanted to let others know what a beautiful venue Mill Hall is! My husband and I got married here in May 2016 and had a wonderful day despite the pouring rain - one of the best things about Mill Hall is that it is a great venue no matter what the weather and no matter what time of year it is! From the very first minute I contacted Mill Hall, I knew that it was the venue for us. Faye was an absolute delight to deal with and very patient and understanding throughout the process, answering all of my queries in a timely manner and just generally being her lovely self! It was also refreshing to deal with a venue that didn't just appear to see £ signs when you mentioned the word 'wedding' and we really felt like we got excellent value for money at Mill Hall. The food was divine, the venue was truly beautiful and I honestly don't think we could have chosen a better venue to tie the knot in. I'd thoroughly recommend Mill Hall for your wedding - or for any event really!

We got married at Mill Hall on 24 October 2015. We had an evening candle lit wedding and Mill Hall was the perfect venue. The magnificent Grand Hall, in conjunction with the joining Garden Room, are not only beautiful, they allowed our wedding to flow perfectly from ceremony to drinks to dinner to disco. Having visited a number of other venues that didn't tick all the boxes (grandeur, capacity, delicious food and a reasonable price), it became apparent very quickly that Mill Hall would do just that. Add in the fact that the proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause and it really was a no brainer for us. The team at Mill Hall were fantastic. Faye's understanding and patience as we made decisions and then changed them deserved a medal and the team's flexibility to cater to our requirements, especially tailoring our menu so specifically, ensured the day ran smoothly and was exactly how we imagined it. The team was so friendly and polite and couldn’t have been more professional. We had the perfect day and could not recommend Mill Hall and it's staff highly enough.

We married at Mill Hall on the 8th August where we had our ceremony and reception. We knew as soon as we walked in that Mill Hall was the venue for us, we had a 1920's glamour theme for the day and Mill Hall with its beautiful, ornate interior was perfect. We had tall, white ostrich feather centrepieces which we knew would look fantastic with the high ceiling in the stunning Great Hall. Faye was so helpful helping us with every little aspect of the day (and poor Faye, I did have a lot of little things!). When we had the food tasting with the hugely talented Chef, Paul, we ended up staying for hours just chatting with him he was so friendly and easy going! The food was absolutely fantastic, absolutely delicious. On the day itself I didn't worry about a thing, Fran and the team were there for our every need and all our guests mentioned how well they got on with the staff. Fran even ran out behind me several times to fan out my dress for me!!! They really went over and above and we so appreciated their friendliness and we believe our experience was much better than if we had booked to get married in a hotel where we would not have had the same exclusivity that you get at Mill Hall where there are no other weddings going on than yours. The grounds are lovely and a lot of our guests made use of them throughout the day and evening. I could not speak more highly of the venue, food, staff and service. We married on Saturday 13th June 2015 at St. Thomas’ church, Woolton Hill followed by a reception at Mill Hall. From the moment we stepped foot inside Mill Hall we knew it was perfect for us. Nestled on the outskirts of Newbury stands this magnificent 18th century grade 2 listed building. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior, with the oak panelled great hall and the bright garden room with views over the terrace, grounds and lake. The fact that proceeds from our wedding would benefit the Mary Hare charity was also a plus point for us. Faye was fantastic; very organised, enthusiastic and always on hand to answer our questions and fulfil our requests (it’s not very often that you are asked to accommodate a pony on the wedding day!). Faye helped us find suppliers and also arranged the food tasting which was great fun. We arrived in a horse and carriage to the rear of Mill Hall and were met by a buzz of guests being served drinks and canapés on the terrace and in the garden room. The waiting staff were excellent and ensured our guests were taken care of. Following photos in the beautiful grounds guests were seated before Ben and I made our entrance into the Great Hall via the Grand staircase…what an entrance! The room was immaculate and the tables had been dressed beautifully, complimented by the beautiful flowers, in particular the arrangement over the magnificent fireplace. So many of the guests commented on how delicious and well presented the food was and what a super venue Mill Hall is. It is most definitely a hidden gem and we will cherish our wedding day memories for the rest of our lives. We cannot recommend Mill Hall highly enough.

After viewing the venue we have both fallen in love with the beautiful building & the garden, and we knew this is the place where we want to get married. Our wedding day was fantastic, truly magical! We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Mill Hall at the beginning of October and we could not have asked for a more perfect day! Mill Hall is a wonderful charming building set in beautiful surroundings. During the week it is a school for profoundly and severely deaf young children and all profits from the weddings are put back into the school which was another reason in a long list of reasons to get married there! The organisation that went on behind the scenes was utterly brilliant! Everything went like clockwork and they even made sure that the sun came out at 2pm ready for the photos! :) The grounds really are stunning and look wonderful in all the photos. Faye, the wedding organizer, helped us set things up perfectly and, on the day, Fran and the front of house team ran everything to perfection. Paul, the head chef, hosted us for a tasting session a few weeks beforehand in which we chose all our courses for the day and produced all the food on the day to absolute perfection. Every single guest has told us how much they enjoyed the food. It’s just a massive shame that I have to wait until I get invited to another wedding there before I can try that food again! Seriously, Paul needs to open a restaurant! If we were doing it again, we wouldn't change a single thing. A huge, never ending thanks to Mill Hall.

We held our wedding breakfast and evening reception at Mill Hall on 5th April 2014, and had an absolutely brilliant day. From the point of our first enquiry through to the day itself, we can't fault the service provided. Faye, the wedding coordinator was on hand throughout, and worked closely with us to plan the day we wanted, within our budget. Paul, the head chef, hosted an amazing food tasting session and accommodated all our requests as well as making suggestions when we were unsure. And Fran and the front of house team really looked after us setting up the day before, and on the day itself. We've had so many compliments from our guests about the venue and atmosphere, and everyone really enjoyed the food. We'd like to thank everyone at Mill Hall for making our day so memorable, and all the preparation so smooth and stress free.

The venue is beautiful, I mean really stunning, the staff were helpful and professional yet unobtrusive and the food was, and this is my guests opinion unanimously, delicious. Also we had as much help as we wanted beforehand and as many visits as we needed with Faye as the venue co-ordinator who, having been there for quite a few years, really knows her stuff. Now here's the bit people don't like to mention - we had a budget, everyone does right? But one of the things you get pelted with by a lot of suppliers is them trying to tell you that their service is the one thing you must overspend on. Not so with Mill Hall, they work with you to understand how you want your day to look and feel and then try their utmost to make it happen for you. When we first looked at Mill Hall website we didn't realise how flexible they are and there are no hidden charges you get at other places. Probably because they are a charity so they have a different approach than a lot of other businesses and also because they know that the most important thing on the day is for you two to have and remember a great day. And believe me we did and so did our guests. If we did it again we wouldn't change a thing about our venue because it couldn't get any better.
