Discover beautiful venues for a perfect Venician wedding
This magical city has long been one of the world’s great locations for a romantic break or honeymoon, so where better than a wedding abroad in Venice? Floating on its canals, historic palazzos and luxurious aristocratic houses lining the water, it’s a fairytale sight even before you start planning a ceremony. Imagine arriving by gondola or sailing away together as newlyweds, watching the reflections in the lagoon or gliding along the Grand Canal under the Rialto bridge.

Although only a few locations in the city are licensed for civil ceremonies, even the main venue is somewhere to dream of. The 16th century Palazzo Cavalli is set right on the Grand Canal with a stunning view through the windows out onto the water and decoration fit for the nobility who once lived here. A second room for smaller ceremonies looks out onto the Rialto Bridge. For larger wedding groups, Ca Farsetti has space for up to 140 guests, while Casino Venezia is the only location for civil ceremonies with its own garden.
Then celebrate with an equally memorable reception – try the marble rooftop terrace at what’s said to be the city’s oldest hotel, Luna Hotel Baglioni, board a luxurious Venetian galleon for a cruise around the lagoon or head to the gardens of an ex-convent on its own small island.
For Venice with a twist, take the short boat ride to Murano, home to the city’s talented glassblowers, where you can marry in the island’s 13th century Byzantine Palace before posing for photos on the colourful island of Burano nearby.
